so i opened my bonnet to fill window washers but the bonnet wouldnt go up as it seemed it was jammed on something, the metal bar that supports the bonnet fell out of place and lodged onto the side of my battery, i ended up forcing it up and the battery moved out of place, i turned my car on and left it for about 5 minutes then it started to drop below 1000rpm and just cut out, i tried restarting but it just kept turning over then would start but not fully start if you know what i mean, anyway i kept trying and then the airbag light was flickering and making a ticking noise, and kept doing so even when keys were out of ignition, also had a picture of the battery on the dash, i lifted the bonnet and the battery had moved so put it back into its bit of metal it sits on and made sure all leads were ok, started car again and roared into life, so obviously this had something to do with the battery, but why would it just cut out, and about 5 mins after i fixed it i was driving it along the road to see if it was ok and all the dials went off for a split second but quickly recovered, iv checked my battery again and everytime i move it into its original position, it just moves because of the car moving, but its ok now and still restarts, just wondering why this would have caused the engine to die though, and would this be because of wires coming out of battery or because it was moved??? cheers :y:

i started reading what you had wrote and then i suddenly realised there wasn't a full stop anywhere so i held my breath and carried on reading i started going red in the face gasping for breath i finally came to a comma mark so i had took half a breath and soldiered on reading lucky i had that half a breath else i would of died from lack of oxygen then i started to wonder if the paragraph would just continue on and on or would you start a new paragraph as i felt i was reading a brick wall i found it really hard to read so i thought i'd leave you this message letting you know about my experience anyway in my opinion at first i thought you would of hit the big red fuel cut off switch located by side the battery but if it starts fine and runs then probably not so now im thinking you might of loosened one of the battery terminals if i was you i would check the battery terminals are really tight and theres a good connection maybe even clean them up a little bit but before you do anything maybe go back to school and learn how to type.

you are one bent old man, stop perving me up talking about willies nd shit you beast, austria is your target mate stupid lanashire junkie fag doubt

Lmao sorry but that made me laugh!!

Back to topic... It most likely died because the battery wasn't connected properly and because it's injection it needs electric, due to the poor connection the ECU couldn't power the ICV Etc... So it cut out.

I'd say use the little clamp and clamp the battery down :)

Pmllllll

Back to business......

The battery moving wouldnt affect it as long as the terminals have a good grip.. Once the car is started the battery is non existent after that it just sits thier and charges till the next time you start. If anything flickers (Light wise) run a check at the output of your alternator is should be putting out around 14 volts

Yes and no, in some cases you'll find if you disconnect the battery it will cause the car to die, I know it's odd, for example my 1.1 will die if you disconnect the battery, but mu VTR doesn't, it will last a few minutes before it dies.
