Does anyone know if xbox 360 will play movies from an external hard drive. I'm thinking of getting this one.

Yes it will, or atleast it does from my WD passport. It has to be formatted as FAT32 though.

I just made a partition of FAT32 though, as obivously having it all as FAT32 could be a nuesence.

I heard you can format it to a MAC in order than you can use the whole hard drive on the xbox. Fat32 (AFAIK) will only allow you to allocate 16GB worth of memory onto the xbox.

I am using a 20gb fat32 partition on my external harddrive for my xbox 360.

All i know is the biggest file size is 4gb? i think.

never even heard of the MAC file system, so i cant comment.

why do you not just stream?

download this http://tversity.com/ point it towards the file where your movies are in, turn on your Xbox go to movies tab and your pc movies will show, its that easy.

Ahhhh I must warn you though, I have that exact model and theyre not the sturdiest of things.

I had mine about a month, and I kid you not I was soo careful with it. But the USB port fell inside the hard drive. It sucked cause obvs i couldnt get my data out without opening the case, and therefore voiding the warranty. But to get my data recovered Seagate wanted to charge £1200!

So I've had to make the decision to void my warranty and recase the actual harddrive itself into a new home to get my data :\

Just thought id warn you, and if anythin just be gentle with the port :Y:

:-s the passport and mybook are made by western digital. Ive had my passport a good 3 or 4 years with no problems and the mybook about 1 or so years.

Assuming you were talking about wd maybe yours was just a duff.

It wouldnt suprise me tbh! But bloody annoying as i couldnt really do a lot without it going round in a circle... If anyone has a spare sata enclosure lying about i'll hapily buy it off ya.
All the ones online are new and over a tenner, was hoping for something cheaper seeing as its just a bit of plastic lol.
