the car starts and drives well noproblems anywere else the problem is when i apply the brakes it starts knocking and then judering when bought the car a coule weeks ago i knew front pads were going and branking wasnt very good so is this just very worn pads o warped discs ? or anything more serious

Check your brake fluid see if thats below the minimum level, Mine started to do this and turned out the rear cylinder had gone,
If it's that your brake fluid will be low and it will be all over one of your rear wheels.
If thats fine id changed the front pads,
Then if you want piece of mind bleed the brakes to make sure there no air in there.

checked the fluid as ive had a rear cylinder crack on my mk2 golf
just hope just the pads
im doing a overhaul of all the car next week newk spar plugs oilchange and brake pads and shoes and engine clean if still doing after that then dunno what to do

Its probably just your pads,

If you`ve done the above checks then i`d suggest you renew the discs & pads.
