Hi, ever since i repaired the valves on my engine and put it back together my car has vibrated really badly from the inside whenever i push down on the accelerator (so whenever im driving) . the engine has had a compression test and everything is fine with regards to that and it seems to be running nice and smoothly. The vibration is that loud that you have to constantly have to have the radio on to block it out. I have replaced the ignition coil pack with a second hand one as i broke mine whilst repairing the engine but i dont know if this would make the whole inside of the car vibrate as the engine seems to be running ok. I thought it might possibly be an engine mount but it passed its mot in this state. The car is also now idling at 1600rpm when before i repaired the engine it was at 1000rpm. Does anybody have any ideas. cheers Craig.

Sounds very much like an engine mount issue. The mount does 2 jobs, hold the engine in place and dampen vibrations so sounds like your culprit. I would also like to say that I assume the vibrations are not actually visisble? Open bonnet and check the engine is not 'shaking' when revving up. This would indicate coilpack/injector issues causing miss fires at best guess.

Cheers for that i have something to go on now , the vibrations are not visible from the inside of the car but i think the engine may physically vibrate when i rev up so i will check that.

I checked the engine, when running on idle the engine seems to be running pretty fine (engine slightly vibrating) . When i rev up the engine as a whole unit appears to move backwards slightly (towards the windscreen) and when you take your foot off the accelerator the engine as a whole moves back to its orignal position.

Mate this seems normal... the engine needs to have movement or it would put strain on the mounts. You could ask a mechanic to look but personally I dont think it will be that

Let us know how you get on :y:

sounds like engine mount, mine went over christmas, bolt holding the two parts together sheared off, and really bad vibrations.

Yes your engine mounts will cause that movement but idling at 1600rpm thats not mount related thats sounds like the ICV.

yes it may even be that i have not tightened the engine mount bolt enough as i removed one of them to gain access when working on the engine , i will just have to have a look i guess and i tried cleaning the idle control valve yesterday but i still have problems with the revs so ill have to investigate that some more , cheers
