As above I have a Saxo westcoast 1.4 and my power-steering works when it wants until now it's not working at all, then a month down the line it will work suddenly then if I turn the car off it will stop working again ????
my battery keeps going flat if I don't use my car for a day, so I have changed the battery and the probs are still there any help at all
UPDATE alternator is fine just checked pumping out 14.50

Any way of testing it and is there an upgrade version that will fit off a different model ??? And how easy replace with tools laying around the house ie no specialist tools needed cheers guys can always count on you lot

take to halfords, they'll test it for free or local garage maybe. correct me if im wrong but i think it should read around 14v whilst car is running.
never replaced one myself, but heard its quite simple. im sure someone will reply telling you soon.

Just checked the alternator is fine what else could it be and fuses I can check

sure its just a couple wires and the bolts that hold it down, should be easy job to change, have a visual look at it mate, might have rusted or have faulty earth

Please read thread buddy I have just checked alternator and it's all fine well over 14 volts

posted before your comment had appeared mate because i left my comp, if you end up needing a pump i have one for sale (pump with non remote filler from a furio)

you may need a new PAS pump.
however with your new battery, is it still going flat?

you may need a new PAS pump.
however with your new battery, is it still going flat?
Won't know until my day off as that's when it normally goes flat so by next Wednesday i should know
Also something to add just found out that my cig lighter is bit working do they run on sane circuit as powersteering pump also any wires that I can give a jiggle that might if worked loose and where would I find them cheers for your help so far guys
