Morning all

My battery light is on a lot of the time im driving it, it will come on randomly and then go off again for no reason, checked voltages with the light on came out as between 14.2 and 14.9v

Sometimes when im sat in traffic the dials will all die too but everything else elctrically works fine, they come back on with a little rev.

Any ideas what it could be, im thinking either a loose connection somewhere or my alternator/battery is dying

alternator giving up the ghost or not tensioned fully. check the alternators connection before buying stuff

As said sounds like your alternator is on the way out, mine did exactly the same thing, clean up the connections on the alternator 1st though.

sounds to me asif the voltages are wrong across the electrics, i had same problem, took mine to an electrical car garage and thats what they found.

this happened to mine, i checked alternator and battery they were both fine. i found my problem to be the cable from the alternator had come loose, i plugged it back in and fix!!

As Ryan mentioned, just check the cables are in good condition, replace the terminals for a few quid before buying a new alternator.
