In preparation for some serious off-roading, I've fitted a snorkel to my truck, after not being able to find one to fit a Delica for less than £350 plus import tax and postage from Australia or Japan, I decided to modify a Landrover Defender MOD snorkel, and it has worked a treat, got it all for less than £85. Now looking forward to getting propper muddy!!!

had it been the 2wd version or emina/previa/bongo etc I'd totally agree with you but the 4wd version, is more like a JDM version of a VW syncro, nothing much else compares. Using the same super select system as the Pajero makes it very capable and one of the most underestimated 4x4's there are. It'll follow a Discovery anywhere and have room in the back to sleep, eat, etc...

What is it actually like off road mate? i've always thought they look as if it would be unstable round corners.

It's really good off road. It has the same hi/low ratio gears with diff lock system that the Pajero/Shogun uses. I've never been a fan of automatics before, but the torque converter works really well and feels less harsh on the truck than riding a clutch does. They have the same capabilities as a Discovery, they are a little top heavey and you do get a little roll if you go round the corners too fast, although some have esp. They can lean to about 40 degrees before tipping, so as long as you don't belt it round the track it'll not tip easily.
Have a look on youtube there are loads of videos there these are a few of my favourites:
