hi

all i have is a bucket and sponge lol, never wash my cars usually, but the saxo looks pretty good when scrubbed up.

So, can people recommend some basic products that i could pick up from halfords say.

for example, what should i use to wash the car, sponge? cloth? etc etc, something to dry it with, clean plastic wheel trims, maybe some sort of was or watevr you can recommend for a complete noob.

Mate use the search, there are hundreds of posts which will answer your question

Not bein funny but the search button is great, instead of typing out a post and then waiting for answers, you can just search and find everything you would want to know, and even more info available than you will ever get in this single thread

I use the following products for a budget cleaning package (much better on the market for big money but these yield good results for a budget price)

Firstly Google two bucket method and use this as your washing principle for a simple way to safely clean a car as you probably have a swirl marks all over your car already...

Go buy... Everything except bucket and grit guard I have is Meguairs ( There budget and decent quality imo) Get Auto Glym etc to if you wish...

1. 2 x buckets

2. grit guard

3. microfibre wash mits/ lambswool mits etc... (not a sponge) I have a few for different areas of the car (door jambs, wheels top half of car and bottom half of car.

4. high quality leather to dry the car

5. non abrasive brush to help clear stubborn bits of grime on wheels etc and scrub the tyres down with

6. Shampoo I use this

7. Polish I use this

8. Tyre Shine I use this

9. Alloy wheel cleaner I use this

10. Clay Bar I use this

11. Wax I have ordered this today (not available from halfrauds) Never used it but it is expensive

Can also go into the realms of snow foam etc which is advantageous before cleaning a car but that will add extra money also!!

Can get most of the above from halfords...

also get a polishing applicator and lambswool mit for the polish...

for the windows I have some proper valeting stuff from a garage however Autoglym fast glass etc should be decent enough...

You can also apply the Meguairs tyre gel to bump strips etc and it smells lovely :y:

I'll probably get flamed and hung for this, but the best thing I've ever used for my windows are Windolene's large glass wipes - pack of 20 for about £2 from your local supermarket.

My night driving is no longer destroyed by bright lights glaring.

Im happy just rinsing the srad with a jet every few days.

The r6 is rinsed regulary, with mikey abusing it before she gets tucked up for long times.

The new motor...will be in the hands of mikey too. On a refular basis.
