Just had an interesting "debate" on facebook with some lad, his mum, sister and gf...

They called me a sick cunt, because i said anyone should be aloud to abort an unborn child, because it isnt born, doesnt feel pain, and its never been loved...

They said if you abort a child, you should go to prison for murder..

I said if you have a misscarage, you should go to prison for assisted suicide..

That may be a harsh way of putting it, but i think im right...

I mean if your against abortion, how can they eat meat if they are that fussy about taking an unborn life, but they can quite easily have a sheeps daughter killed, for abita lamb to go with there yorkshire puds and veg...

To be classed as "alive" you have to do 5 or 7 things which include "Eat", "breathe" and some other. A baby does NOT breath until it is born. A baby is NOT alive until it is born. So how can you count it as murder?

Do you have siblings? What if your parents had aborted you, or one of them? You are denying life into the world, and life is very precious and very special.

I do believe there should be choice, and I don't think it should be classed as murder, but I don't agree with people being lax about it, or using it as a form of birth control. If it's a genuine mistake (i.e. condom splitting, or if the parents would be in a genuine mess and unable to support a child and bring them up in a proper environment and give them a fair chance at life) then I'm in favour of it. Fortunately and unfortunately I got a girl pregnant and she had an abortion. I was 17 and she was 16, we weren't serious, and neither of us could have supported a child and I couldn't bear the thought of not providing a decent life for a kid, especially one where it's parents weren't together and didn't really like each other, so call me a hypocrite if you want, I feel like it at times.

I agree, but surely you are grateful for the fact that you weren't aborted and have been given the chance at life now you are aware of what's what? When my mum got pregnant for the 5th time with my little brother, obv it was to my dad, but they had a proper volatile relationship and were always on off, and it was basically a one off mistake that ended up with her pregnant, and at the time I was saying she should have an abortion cos she was already struggling. I look at my little brother now and can't believe I even THOUGHT about it, because he is amazing and obviously I love him, and I'm so glad she didn't...

As a nurse who works in gynae theatre termination of pregnancies is a common occurance. I'm unsure if any of you have ever watched a termination taking place. It isn't pleasant. Nor is the aftermath of measuring the exact age of the feotus once it has been removed from the womb.
Watching a baby perfectly content in the womb and even sucking its thumb or showing other 'human' characteristics. To be sliced in order to be removed is too much to bear for me.

There are lots of occasions when termination is the only option for women. Most commonly chromosome disorders which would result in the child being severely disabled at best and stillborn at worst. Children who are loved but it is unfair to them to continue with the pregnancy when they have no hope for a future.

I understand the need for this practice to take place and I believe it is a womans right to make that choice. However, all to frequently abortion is being used as a form of contraception.

The ladies who enter my theatre everyday are people who desperately want children but cannot conceive. Its hard to watch them suffer so much when you know the lady beforehand has just terminated a perfectly healthy baby.

but threre are cases where i think they are allowed.:
if the child is likely to be bought up in a harmfull or unloved enviroment
if the conception was due to unwilling acts...
if the fetus is disabled and likely to suffer in future.
simple.....cover the end of it and keep safe....if not it is YOUR responsibility to take care of the child.

I've always wondered and tried to put myself in the position of a possible mother..surely having an abortion when you know the child will not have the best up-bringing and may not even get to know his/her father is better than bringing up a child into a world where the child is un-welcome and the mother-figure is only using the child as a kind of accessory..because that does happen these days.
