Hi,
Anyone used Redex petrol treatment? Is there any benefit to using it and can it cause any problems to the engine?

doesnt do much so that ull notice used to flush it through my vts all the time as it was full of crap, never noticed any difference to be honest, its meant to just go round with the fuel and clean out the fuel lines / injectors.

I've read that it increases fuel consumption? Mine does about 350/380 to a tank with mostly motorway. The injectors on mine do click quite loudly but heard it was a common thing? Maybe Redex will quieten them down a bit?

just use optimax for a few days! i only use a tiny drop of redex once a year & i use high octain fuel all the time. it can cause problems & expose holes or cracks that are happily coverd by deposites! so be carfull if you use it.

Thanks for the advice WestyVTR. Will optimax help quieten the injectors?

I use the equivalent stuff for my saxo.
3 months after owning the car the exhaust corroded, i suspect that is coincidence in all honesty but worth pointing out never the less, mind you i used to do 2 cap fulls of the stuff to a tank (when 1 is recommended). I use it all the time... but it is worth noting that it may well increase your fuel economy but remember you still have to buy the product in the first place. so make sure the use of redex is justified i.e the cost is less than than the saving made.

No harm to the car but deffo to my wallet!! lol! :D
Injectors are usually noisey most of the time, can hear them when am pulled up, sat at idle with fans off. Drives me mad!
Btw, slightly off the line but seems to be a slight knocking noise from the engine when at idle? If I rev it it quietens for about 10-15 seconds then comes back again! Possible piston slap?

Just had an oil change. Seems to be coming from mid to bottom of the engine rather than the top.
