how do i remove the whole grill of a mk1?

this is a pic of what my grill style is like but with a standard centre bit

i know that i have to take of 3 10mm bolts on top, but what about the rest?

You need to take the indicators out, they just pop out with a screwdriver and there are two white clips holding the grille to the wing (one clip on each side), after removing these the grille should just slide out from under the headlights.

excellent, could you give us more detail on how to take the indicators off??

Just put a flat head screw driver down the side of it near the wing and it should just prise out. Just dont be too rough or you'll scratch the paintwork.

Yep thats how you do it. I found when doing the indicator, if you push slightly forwards with the screwdriver towards the front of the car, the indicator slides forwards easier. Be careful not too push too hard as the indicator parts are plastic and can snap.

too true i found this out!!! luckily i only snapped one of the plastic bits so indicator still sits properly but really i should go and get another one lol
