Misc Issues - Any ideas please

Hi Guys,

I've noticed recently that when going over bumps I get a clanging noise from under the car. It sounds like the exhaust banging on something but there doesn't appear to be much give in the exhaust to do that?

I've recently had a new mid-section fited but it started doing it before I had it changed. The mid section was changed due to rattling baffles but there still appears to be a slight rattle in low-range revs in second/third when going up hill particulalry. Cat appears fine, doesn't rattle when i knock it?

And just another quick question, my nearside fog light has moisture in it, anyone know how to remove the fog light to clear it or if there's a seal that maybe I should replace?

The knocking noise... can you tell if it's coming from the front or rear of the car?

The foglights... they can be taken apart quite easily. There's a guide on SSC that tells you how to spray your fogs. Just go through those steps which will tell you how to remove the glass, etc... Hi DD, i'm not entirey sure....it seems to come from the front/middle but occasinoally I do hear it on the back (whether thats sound reverb from walls i'm driving past I don't know).

i get a knocking noise from my exhaust mate, had it before & repositioned some of the rubber hangers & it sorted it out. but since i had it lowered (and the exhaust moved around) its back.

think when i looked under the car at FCS one of the supports is knocking the spare wheel cage at the back.

not sure if its the same with yours mate, but reposition the rubbers a few times & see whether it sorts the problem.

it is proberly the exhaust knoocking! get under the car & shake it about & see....

Could be knocking on the gear linkage mate, mine used to.

Just to give you an update on this one. The strut that the mid section hands onto the rubber seal was banging on the underside of the car, could see the mark where its been banging. Just chopped a bit off the end of it and re-seated it and its worked a dream. Thanks for all the advice.

Also found out what the slight rattle was even though the exhaust had been replaced, it was the head-sheald on the cat that had come loose a bit and was was resenating, so sorted 2 problems out in one go.

Just need to sort out the fog light misting now *sigh*. Its not a sealed unit is it? i.e. replace the entire light fitting?
