Hi people, just a few simple questions that i want answering!!

1) I am looking at getting me saxo de-locked. Iv heard that its a fairly simple process, where the lock gets removed, a plate being welded onto the back. Then the simple porcess of filling to make it smooth then the paint job. Is this correct, or is something missing???

2) ALong with the above question, i am wanting to get the car de-handled aswell. The problem here is...HOW??? Whats the process needed to achieve this and what do i need??? I am wanting it with the botton that goes under the wing mirror.

Cheers people in advance

yeah thats right mate, weld a little plate over the back of the lock and then use filler on the front, sand down and then spray, obviously u need remote central locking fitted if not u wont be able to lock/unlock the car

right now to de handle you need to weld a plate roughly to and as close as the door contors as possible adn then also welding a plate over the end peice joinng it intowards the car filling th gap, then if it is a small space that is needed to get it to the doors body line smooth it over with filler like before if there is a bigger gap needs filling then use fibre glass to get it close to body line then use filler to finish it and sand it, then spray. if you are doign this u need to fit door popper solinoids wired to a small button under the wing miror that pop the door open, there around £30 for a door kit off ebay

i think if your going to de-handle it you have to have a way of opening the car manually from the outside still. might even be required on an MOT. could be worth checking out.

A switch under the mirror controling a solinoid pulling the latch open like i suggested is fine and conforms to current laws, it does not have to be a manual type at present law, here is the current MOT law on doors:

"doors
-------
This inspection does not apply if no drivers or front passenger's doors were fitted as part of the original design of the vehicle.
A lack of door handles because of original design characteristics or specialist modification is not a reason for rejection provided the door can be latched securely in the dosed position.

method of inspection
---------------------
Open and close the drivers and passengers' doors. Check that each latches securely in the closed position. Check also that front doors can be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle.

Reason for rejection
--------------------
a. A driver's or any passengers door does not latch securely in the closed position
b. a driver's or front passenger's door cannot be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle from the relevant control in each case.

Note: Reason for rejection 1 b does not apply to:
. goods vehicles modified for the carriage of high value cargoes such as armoured security vehicles
. front passenger doors if the door aperture has been permanently 'filled' as part of a specialised customisation provided that there are no obvious aperture gaps.
