I havent heard of this untill just, but they have got a box which monitors how you drive, i,e speed you take corners, how you brake and accelerate.
The better your driving is the lower your premiums, the worse it is (i.e speeding) the higher your premiums.
Sorry if its a re-post.

Good if you cant get insured or getting stupidly high prices.

Its been about for a while and I know of a few people who have this kind of insurance. I think its a crappy idea and hope it dies a death, to me it seems like the start of pay as go driving. Im probablys just a paranoid nutter but its what i think.

Not bad but tbh I don't know any of my mates who don't drive after 11pm every now and then. I often do mates a favor and pick them up from the clubs once I have finished work.
Just like the other companies that give you a discount if you do certain extra tests shortly after you pass. They are alright in some places but when you need to do things like Motorway driving which is a 120+ mile drive just to get to the closest Motorway its near impossible to get an instructor with enough time to do it.
Im with Co-op atm but just have a tracker which is crap and doesn't actually track my miles properly meaning a 400 mile round trip to Cardiff was counted as just over 200 miles and a 30 mile college drive has been as low as 0.6 miles lol :)

I worked on the website for a company distributing this technology recently. Admiral are going to adopt it soon too.
Not only does it track your driving, but when they come to install it they also check your car over for undeclared modifications, check your licence and any penalty points, and ncb certificates.

Its getting pathetic imo!
Yeah if you want cheap insurance, and want the limits of driving between certain hours and blah blah, then thats great! I cant complain.
But, when most people are starting to adopt it, i just wont use them. Im sure many people will take the same decision. Id rather pay that little more, and have a tonne more freedom tbh.
Also, ive found that admiral, are cheapest for young drivers. They should stay with it as they are!

They allow basic things like Tow bars, LPG Conversion and accessability aids outside but as far as im aware you can do whatever you want with the interior which is what im focusing on. Getting white leather sport seats next month and then im thinking about modding the center console to incorperate an iPad 2 dock. :y:

I wouldn't have one fitted but if you really couldn't get cheap insurance and these people offered a cheap price then it may be the only option for some people...

My friend has insurance on his 1.1 Forte, which doesn't allow him to drive between the hours of 11-6 (im sure he has a tracker but doesn't realise) and his insurance is 4 times cheaper than mine...!

Will it actually work? What if someone pulls out in front of you and you have to slam on the brakes and swerve to aviod them? Will this affect the cost because of the harsh braking and swerving?
I don't understand how not driving between 23:00 and 6:00 can lower your insurance. The roads aren't exactly busy at these times, if anything it should be the other way round.
There have been plenty of times when I've used my car after 11pm and had to slam on the brakes. Don't fancy being 'contantly watched' and 'criticised' when I'm driving. I'll stick with my standard policy thanks.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I just got insured on a saxo vtr 1.6 with these guys for 498 pound with 1 years ncd from my moped or for my friend it is 785ish without ncd. Basically I said that I am the main driver and I do 1000 miles a year then you put a parent as a named driver and say that she/he occasionally goes out between 11 and 6 and they do between 10k and 12k miles per year. I have been asked by the police why the named driver is doin more miles than the named and I said because the car is in my name so the insurance has to be in mine otherwise it is called fronting a policy. The only way they can find out wether u are driving the most is if they follow you for 1000 miles

So you get charged extra for driving at rush hour and you're not allowed to drive at night? Any wonder these things make insurance cheaper, you can only drive for about 3 hours a day.

Because it's dark. Everyone knows it's not lots of traffic that causes accidents, it's the dark.:drink:

sounds a load of bollocks if you ask me. id rather drive a 800cc daewoo matiz with proper insurance than this kiddies insurance on a saxo vtr.
The best part about driving is having the freedom to do whatever you want. Its just like your parents are calling you to come in for bed :homme:
