106 better than a saxo?

Being a saxo owner for about a month now and looking to improve some of the ghastly interior i've noticed things. I've noticed that almost everyone looks to get rid of their seats for and swap em for (if not bucket seats) GTI Leather seats from a 106. Also all the cool carpets come from a Rallye... a 106 :/ also I were looking at fully colour coding my wing mirrors and now i've been told to get the gti mirrors from a... you guessed it... 106! :/

So if 106's and saxo's are pretty much the same car. Why have saxo's been given the crap side of everything? :/

Anyone think of anything that's better on a saxo than a 106?... Interior wise

Mirrors are personal preference, Richy_rich has saxo mirrors on a gti.

Bumper mods needed.. but a 106 bumper on a Saxo looks awesome! Someone on here done it, another lad had a PS of it. A orange one iirc.

The 106 GTI leather seats are much better than the Saxo interior without doubt lol, but i think the two cars are just as good as each other :y:

the GTi is not much faster than the VTR and it has twice the valves!

Ive owened 2 vtrs both mk1 and mk2 and the mk2 was cammed etc and the 106 gti ive just got would demolish them both, gti is a lot quicker than a vtr.

They are both better in different ways imo. 106 dash is wank. I prefer the lines of the 106, and the sides without the bumpstrips looks good also. 106 mirrors on a saxo are win. I think the 106 front end looks dated though, compared to the MK2 Saxo.

Your basically saying a vtr is as quick as a vts then. The 106 gti is a second quicker than the vts 0-60.................. big deal a second lol. Besides they are all french and based on the same chassis. I say saxo is the winner as the saxo was based on the AX which were made well before the 106 was so peugeot decided to copy the base. :homme:

106 is a BEAST! And the square dash just gets me nursing a semi everytime I get in the car. Haters gonna hate etc etc.

But seriously, they are much the same car, only because the parts are interchangeable that things are put onto a 106/saxo vice versa. Because people can, they do.

In reality, on the road, there will be little difference in a straight line drag race between a saxo vts and gti. They are only figures at the end of the day, and the tale about the gti having more fuel and passengers, making it slower and therefore a group lower insurance etc etc

for a saxo website alot of people say 106 lol, i watched a really old top gear where jeremy clarkson reviewd these cars and he comapred a gti and a vts and he said he thought the gti was the better care, i still prefer a saxo,

saxo's defo look more modern...well not dated compaired to the 106...but imo gti's just look wikid! wanted one for ages...ended up getting a vts cus they were going a grand or more cheaper at the time though...same car, neither are faster than the other and if they were it wud be a very small difference lol

They're the same car just about. It's only swapping stuff around. I've seen plenty of 106's with Saxo mirror's.

Personally prefer the view out Saxo mirror's anyway personally.

If i were to buy one of the two again, i'd have another Saxo.

Own both gti and vts, seriously there is no difference. I maybe very slightly prefer the interior on the 106.

Later Saxo comes with 15" wheels gti's are only 14s

VTS 0-60 7.2s (which is citroens equivalent of the GTi, think you find that wins.)

all i said was that the 106 doesnt produce much more performance for the extra 8 valves. where as the saxo DOES.

some saxos did come with leather seats saxokid100's missus is one of those people with them, as for the mirrors 106 mirrors only suit mk1 saxos imo, and the saxo dash is nicer but thats down to personal preference, reggan iirc is the lad that has done the bump swap from saxo vt to 106gti

I don't understand how the 106 GTI and Saxo VTS are different in the 0-60 times. The both share the same engine and there is like 15kg difference in weight between them

Anyone clarify why the 0-60 time is 1.2s different?

Them times are all bullshit. The 106 GTi and the Saxo VTS have the same engine. And if iirc the 106 is slightly lighter.

I believe that Peugeot and Citroen test their cars in slightly different ways. Peugeot normally test with a full tank of fuel and a passenger, whereas some manufacturers have no extra weight in them. This would give totally different times for essentially what is the same car
