hi there was wondering whether anyone has any experience in it. well heres the script . im 19 and have 2 mates that are amazing drawers one is already doing tattoos and is good at it . the other hasnt touched a tattoo gun.
Mate that has never touched a tattoo gun:
http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/4702/55332661502503275978803.th.jpg (http://img269.imageshack.us/i/55332661502503275978803.jpg/)

And the one who is already doing tattoos in past time:
http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/4652/16863610150392336220191.th.jpg (http://img823.imageshack.us/i/16863610150392336220191.jpg/)

so what im thinking is starting a business. renting a stall in my local shopping centre. as the closest tattoo place is 2 miles away then after that there 3/4 miles away so there isnt anything close as the one thats 2 miles away is 20 mins away on bus. so should have some customers?
so i was thinking of spending £500 to get equipment like chairs, stools, needles and inks, one of them already has rest of equipment. and i pay her a wage and the rest of money goes to me for rent of stall and materials. and while doing this have my other mate being an aprentice to other mate and il give him some money aswell. until he has licence then spend another £500 on quipment for him have them both on wages. and hopefully i would be able to get some income off this. what other aspects are there to take into consideration , i will have to pay to start a business? and have a mate who owes me a favour to design a website for me . the monthly costs of a domain?

is there anything im missing? what are your thoughts on this ? only thing i am worrying about is if business is slow then im screwed .

You're forgetting business rates, book keeping/accountant costs, health and safety regulations, insurance, etc etc.

start up as a partnership, then you dont have to do PAYE, but you all would have to do a tax return.
Accounting is easy. Simple costs vs expenditure. We dont use an accountant, I do all mine myself.
You will most likely have to put more than £500 in the pot to get a rented property. I would think you need a few £k to cover the losses as you build a reputation. I also would not hire an apprentice with no established clientel. Waste of resources..

thankyou for replies. yer insurance is one ive forgot. but accounting will be done by me or mate who is doing tattooing as we both are mathmatically/statistically quite capable, im going to look further in and get a full and detailed list of all my expenditures. and see what i am going to need . i suppose i can have my mate teach my other mate outside of work , get him practising on the pig flesh for a while. but i can see my mate who hasnt touched a gun as being a good investment . thankyou kamracing i may look into partnership as PAYE seems quite abit. but i have no skills at all with tattoos or drawing. im just abit creative when coming to make money, bit of a dell boy

There will always be hidden costs, i'd recommend saving up a couple K just to put to one side incase you need anything or anything goes wrong. Or a bill comes which you haven't considered.

hi there ...have you tattoo before people think cos they can draw they can tattoo .... i can tattoo better than i can draw lol

500 will not get you much i have 7 tattoo guns £150 pound each about 500 worth of inks plus needles tips power pack . tables chairs computers to do art work .... cleaning kit list goes on

you also need certificate to tattoo my end its about 95 + then same again for the building ..... so thas 200 + for both
and theres the insurance
i paid 200 a week for my shop and im not in the town end
then you have to pay for your waste to be taken you carnt use the bins think thats 50 a month and loads more ive forgot

but if its what you really want to do ...go for it .. just make sure you do it right or you will be shut down :(

Why would you want to hire 3 people?

Surely if your a new company, it should only be you, and your mate who's good with the gun?

Your mate who drew the house, who's going to have a complex drawing like that on their back?

I really can't see how tatto business's make money tbh. Easiest way to make money is buy and sell, forget the physical work. ;)

But ill agree why would you want 3 people ? You would need to be on really good money and great tattooest to bring that kind of money back . I work on my own and it will stay that way

3 people? i want to hire my mate who already does the tattoos and have my other mate just learning in own time and give him apprentice money to keep him incouraged . the 500 is for the rest of the quipment she needs . nothing with deposits, rent insurance business creation costs. that money will be getting loaned.artist is good but what will hopefully help is that there is no other legit business accessible to my area without taking transport. and the mate who drew the house is a great drawer . i just picked that one out as it intriged me to how detailed it was :)
