Hey guys, i currently own a saxo vtr and i am now ready to upgrade to a quicker car and im stuck on which one to go for can anybody help mee??? I want a car that pulls quick in 5th gear and thats good on motorways, the VTR wasnt that bad but im after sumthn faster now so heres the 3 i can choose from.... The saxo vts s i hear its in a different league compared to the VTR, The peugeot 106 GTI because of its great acceleration Or the Vauxhall Corsa 1.8 SRI which is also nippy of the start.....
Any Views of urs are welcome whatever so please guys tell me whats the best car not just speed wise but also looks, handling, costs.... ETC... Thanks Guys!

Well for a start the saxo vts and 106gti are essentially the same car, just slight differences in styling.
And as your asking here its going to be a biased answer and will side towards the vts/gti

I would get a 106 GTi
Nicer than the Saxo IMO
Also the Corsa C 1.8 is a piece of shit, underpowered and heavy, and every fucker has a Corsa C, they are horrible cars
If it was me though, i would look for a S2 106 Rallye with a 16v (GTi) engine fitted
Would be the same power as the GTi, but slightly quicker due to less weight.. Plus the Rallye is a much cooler car than the GTi

SRI- Its a corsa!
-shuggles-
29th March 2011, 21:36
as said I would have a spec whored rallye. There is just so many man point's to be earned:homme: Can I ask why the sri is in the choice? complete different price range tbh
nadk2010
29th March 2011, 21:39
Iv seen a few sri's their prices have dropped a lot in the 1400's to 3000. I just want sumthn different that is also comfortable to sit n especially on long journeys, i love the vtr but long driving is tiring in it in an around the towns tho its top class!

None of the above.
Get sonething jap like a starlet gt turbo (or glanza). Will shit on gti's and VTS's and there registered as a 1.3 not a 1.3 turbo :y:

106 over a saxo IMO, i also like the corsa C's for styling, but aren't as fast as other sized cars.

The Corsa is a Hell to the Fuck NO straight off the bat!!
As said, a VTS or a 106GTI are the same engine with a different shell
Personally I would get the 106 GTI as they are becoming rarer these days and imo will hold their value better as long as you get a low miled one which has history etc

the vts is slightly quicker 0-60, is has a longer second iirc, it blips down when you put it into second... i'm sure i read that somewhere

Out of everyone dissing the Corsa, how many have actually owned one?
Out of the 3 cars, the Corsa will be best on the motorway - I would get a GTi or a VTS though, the VTS should be easier to find cheaper but the GTi might even appreciate in value if you wanna pay the extra for one now ...

my girlfriend owned one, i drove it, thought it was shit
does that count?

Driving a car is much different to owning one though
I drove my mates Furio, thought "fucking hell this is a laugh" bought a VTS and as much fun as it was living with it was a whole different matter.
Where as the Sri is a bit dull yes, but it'll start everytime, will cruise at 80 on the motorway on the cruise control no problem. The gearing is a bit low though unfortunately...It's not good through the twistys "out of the box" but a few hundred quid on some decent shocks and a RARB and that should be sorted. The story with most Vauxhalls unfortunately...

I would have a 1.0 Corsa B over a Saxo/106.
So,to answer the question,i would go for the Corsa C SRi.The 1.8 isn't fast,but it isn't slow.iirc 125bhp.
I would much rather have a Europa Blue Astra Coupe SE2.

Never owned one but have driven three, all different engine sizes
They are slow....and boring (except the VXR)
The only way I would ever have a corsa is the VXR and that is overpriced for what it is

We are on about the Corsa C, not the Corsa D :y:
Corsa D is a bit bloated and terrible from what I've read.

Corsa D VXR is a very good all round car.A bit more power is all that car needs.

I think a remap takes the BHP above the 200 mark from what I have heard
I do like them, a modern car with a turbo, decent ncap rating and 200+ bhp engine......they are just far too expensive new

30th March 2011, 12:34
clio 172 (cup) is a very very nice car coilovers, yozza system, de-cat, gen 2 k&n, remap and bit more stripping youve got a hell of a car, my mates beats my others mates focus st with induction and decat everytime! SMALL FRENCH ALL THE WAY BOi!!

Decent remap and set of uprated injectors will see around 220bhp on the Z16LER.
Prices are coming down on them now though.
I do like them, but i would pick an Astra VXR over 1.

I'd sooner have the Clio RS 200 over the VXR Corsa tbh :y:
(based on reviews and personal opinion on what's more important)

What tool said starlet are not declared as a turbo, yes they are.. FOOL.

Ive had a Corsa B mate & was the 1.4 Sport and tbh it was shocking, only had it 3/4 months then got rid for a MK1 Saxo, never ever again will i go back to a Corsa :y:

172 or 182 clio spprt is the way forwards.. but saying that you can mod a GTI/VTS to keep up with a 182 sport..

30th March 2011, 18:15
Glanza doesna shit on a VTS either :S what bullshit yeh mibe top end it would acceprtation they arent that quick :S My Mk6 ZS beat a glanza (1.3 turbo) off the line and right upto 70mph then it started over taking by 100mph the thing was a bit infront of me!! so if the mk6 zs can do that am sure the VTS/GTI would do alot better imo!!
TomT
30th March 2011, 18:20
Out of the 3 you said. 106 imo.
Just because I like the looks of them better then a saxo.
Deffo not a corsa though.

30th March 2011, 18:45
Depends on the budget, for around 2500 quid you can get some nice 172's which are way better than a VTS/GTI out of the box.

VTS or GTI = same car.
Just decide of you want nice seats & a shit dash/wheels or nicer wheels/dash & shitter seats.
GTI's are more than VTS's which is annoying but you won't be viewed as a huge tosser for driving one, just a regular tosser, that said though I would get a rallye. None of these cars are particularly good for the motorway though a clio 172 or 182 might be a good option.

30th March 2011, 19:51
tbh if you want a good motorway mucher why not get a 306 hdi?

You only need to be worried if its been remapped by a certain tuner that goes by the name of Re....
Don't know if they have changed the maps however.
Standard they are fine.

most starlet turbos now are imports, which get registered as just 1.3's.
