just out of pure interest... does anyone know if some traffic lights manually controlled? i mean, do people control them from a control centre (like you see on the italian job)? or can they be manually over-ridden, so someone chooses when they turn green etc? because after doing town lifts tonight, 2 sets of traffic lights (quite close to each other) turned red as i approached, and stayed red for literally 2-3 whole minutes, with no one else about... then the same happened at the next set of lights, as though someone was controlling them and playing a joke on me haha.. :fcuk:
tried a couple of tricks, flashing my headlights to activate the sensor, reversing then moving forward as though i was approaching the lights again... but still nothing :S i was too scared to jump the lights LOL, didnt want to risk a ticket :homme: has this happened to anyone else before?

nope, all traffic lights are controlled by plc's, they do have different settings depending on time of day, for rush hour for example, probably have had a fault the ones you were at, who be to risky and expensive to have people controlling them

A lot of traffic lights have the sensors laid into the tarmac, so when you drive over it, control box knows your waiting.

One of the lights near mr they painted the stop line too far back so to get the lights to go green you have to drive over the line a little bit. Try that hah.

There's a house near me that is right on a junction with traffic lights, they have a button in their garden to press and the lights go green for them to leave their driveway.

Only light I know that can be manually over ridden are in London, watched a program once they have a main control centre to keep a eye on congestion and can alter lights as they see fit
