What is your postcode rating (see the stickys at the top of this section)?

Several factors affect your quote price, the main ones being postcode rating, age, driving experience, NCB (if any), occupation and the vehicle itself.

If you think the car may be the issue, try with a group 1 car and see how much it comes down by?
Realistically the only thing you can change (without invalidating your insurance) is the car itself.

ahh found my area, its only "B" so i don't get why my insurance is so high. I have tried admiral, even put my mom and dad as named drivers but yet the cheapest quote i got was £3390. Ridiculous.

Hmmmm trying doing a quote for a group 1 car, Toyota Aygo or something to see if the car is the issue.
Saxos are going to be more in insurance so by doing a quote for a different car, you will be able to tell if its this causing your insurance to be higher

Are you a new driver? If so that might be why. I had driving experience when I took out the policy and it reduced it by quite alot!
Had a vtr at 17 and was paying £3k. When I turned 18 I canceled the policy and got a new one at £1640.

put parents as named drivers
reduce annual mileage
reduce excess
reduce value of car
dont declare any modifications

i'd declare mods tbh, saves getting his policy voided if a traffic cop pulls him and checks with the insurance company, happened to me once.

Managed to get it to 2200 TPFT or 2600 fully comp. Not the greatest but atleast its not 3k+ lol.

I was always told to put your excess to like £500 to make it cheaper than having it at £100... is this right or is it wrong :y:

It should make it cheaper becuase you have to pay more money before the insurance chip in and pay for the rest. Although if you have a crash that say costs £1000 to repair, you'll have to pay that £500 pounds, and the insurer will pay the rest (£500).

It is usually cheaper if you raise your excess, just don't crash and you'll be fine :zainy:

Raising the excess sounds like a good idea until you have to claim......

On a 20k car you might not mind paying £500 but if you own a £1000 saxo then it probably wouldnt be worth even claiming, especially if you have any NCB as they might be worth more than the £500 you would get back :)

What devilsadvocate said, raising the excess will lower your premium, but if you had a crash, just think how much you could afford to pay out.

Just got to make sure you don't have a crash ;)

or just don't claim if you do, assuming it's an own fault claim where nobody else is involved otherwise you lose your NCB anyway
