Im potentially going to pick up an engine at the weekend but i will have to get insured on my dads van to get it.
Question is,
Have any of you had experience with companies that offer 1 day insurance?
What are the prices like?
Will my insurance company do it (im with admiral)
I'm 19 with 2 years no claims. And it will be a vw caddy
thanks

You wont.
No company does day insurance for under 21's, most cases under 25's.
Only way to do it, would be to get added to your old mans insurance.

As above, unfortunately.
What about normal insurance then cancel it after, iirc most give you a full refund.

This
Even if you find a company that will do it, the price will be stupid

i have done it, price is ok if a tad high use e-car (i used ebike and were good)
i was 17 insured for a week on a 660cc motorbike (e-bike) dont see why it would change on a car unless they have changed the policy withing the last 1-2 years

Just had a look around the internet and looks like your all right, you can only get it if your 21 or over, had a look on ecar and the price was ridiculous.
I will try ringing admiral tomorrow and see if they can do anything. Cheers anyway.

If it's only for one day, why bother with insurance?
Chances are you wont get caught.. Just take your time and drive safely and you should be fine

I would get a policy, then just cancel the policy within the 1 week/ 1 month cool off period or whatever it is. You will probably lose admin fee's which are usually £25.

At 19 you won't get it... I managed it when we picked up Toyah's Saxo but i was 22 at the time (i think lol).
Excess is extreeemely expensive though, i just took the risk.

could your dad add you to his insurance as a named driver for a day or so?
might be worth a try

If your dad rings his insurance company and asks to add you for a day, you can do it that way i'm sure.

Thing is its for a van so insurance companies just say no. In the back of the saxo it is then. Should be fine shouldn't it.....

This isn't too far off what I would do... the van is already insured in somebodies name, so they aren't going to pull you over really unless they have good reason e.g. erratic driving. To be safe though, maybe you should see if you can get added to your Dads insurance

Take the passenger seat out, best place to put an engine.

Im hoping thats a serious answer? if so i may actually do that, it will be alot easier then trying to lift it into the boot.

Deadly serious mate, its only 4 torx T40 bolts to get the seat out. Just need lots of strapping to tie it down and watch the left turns!
Like you mentioned, its miles easier to get the engine in/out
