Or visa versa. Has anybody ever tried it. by conversion I mean exchanging all saxo panels for 106 parts. Is it even possible?

It can be done, I have seen saxos with 106 front ends and vice versa in the past however as said would be expensive and time consuming! Something a bit different though none the less and I reckon it looks good

some people swap the front ends but seems really really pointless swapping all the panels? :S

Why would you want to do that?
Only reason I could think of is if you're just after a Saxo VTR/S engine in a 106, but then you could just buy a GTI 106...? pretty much identical
EDIT: or just drop a VT engine in a 106 lol

You'd have to change the rear quarters, the windows are different..

I has a 10sax lol my gti has a vts engine.

however why would you want to change the panels over :S

the point is...
you can pick up a mint vts for about £2000
where as if you want a 106 in the same condition and year you're looking about £3500

imagine you had your perfect performing car, you knew the engine, and it was tuned to how you liked it... but looks wise you wanted it to be a 106, i'd swap the panels over :y:

Has been done. Saw one for sale a while ago but can't find decent pics for the life of me though.

Not planning on doing it. Just wondered if it was possible. Is it possible to change the back end without the rear quarter panels? Keep the saxo windows, but have 106 boot, bumper tail lights?

Hmm, just me or does that bumper look very photoshopped?

it does, i thought that.
iirc its actually quite a bit of work to get them to fit perfectly, someone on here started doing it and had to do a lot of cutting i think. it is doable though.

Isn't the saxo bumper a couple of inches wider or something?

There was a mint example icelantic Saxo VTS with the whole 106 GTI front end and body kit for sale on PH 6 months ago. Was a perfect job, no signs of modification. The rear boot lid, lights and bumper can defiantly go on Saxos with a little custom metal work.
