wouldnt be much hassle to put them in the rear panels if you really want them there. Take out the door panel, cut out the interior, mount speakers in MDF, put panel back on to hold them in place.

Im not condoning the use of 6x9s i am firmly in the gash camp.

i wouldnt even bother with 6x9's, just spend the money on some decent componate speakers and be done with it, 6x9's are the spawn of satan lol, i hate the things, but thats me lol

Think they would be too big (tall) for the doors.

As Scott says, could put them in the rear panels if you modified them

All in all mate, even if they were free I still wouldn't put 6x9 in my car
Get a decent set of components or coaxials
Get the right sizes and no ballache of customising the panels then :)

TBH it's just gonna be a nightmare fitting them in.
if you want a decent pair of front door card speakers, grab some 5.25inch alpines. They sound crystal clear, & have pretty decent bass too, but most importantly and 5.25 inch speaker will fit straight in, no hassle.

Stealthshelf is a good idea too for 6x9s

I am working on mounting some 6x9 under the rear sidepanels, but you have to customize the panels to make them fit... I have them mount on a plywood board screwed to the body... I havent customized the panels yet, but my plan is to make smooth em out and polster them as the fronts.
I will be alot of work and i wont be an easy.

I could take some pictures if you want to see how they are mounted
