Lost the only key I had for my VTS so went to Citreon to order a replacement

Cost me £64.95 and it turns out its the wrong key!! when i checked the slip it says its for a 1.0i Spree... wtf!?

Now im stuck and I still cant get in my car!

Is it worth getting new locks and barrels? How do i get in the car without damaging anything to do it?

Anyone want to swap a VTS without a key for another VTS =D lmao!

lol :clapping:

Wtf you loling at?
You said its the wrong key, but no. All the keys are the same. The cut is different, so you should have said, thecut is different, doesnt fit the lock.
Not, they gave me the wrong key! Unless its for something like a fucking picasso, it will be the same base key.

Alot of fords, the cuts are still the same. Just the chip is different.
Same key, same cut, different code.

Why dont you just go back and say, oi. Fucking fix it. Stupid morons.
And then its done.

Meaning they dont have the "cut" for my car as its been mixed up with another VIN number...

Citreon say they cant help me now....

What do you guys think I should say? They'r suggesting the locks have bn changed before but even if that was the case it would still come up on there system that the car is a VTS. I'm going to go down after work n see wtf's going on.. And how the hell do I make shit hit the fan? Lmao!

what did you use to order the key?

on the log book what is the car? is it vts on there?

nothing "gay" about mentioning trading standards mate but it need not come to that.

basically you go in, say you ordered a key for your saxo (clearly a vts) and the key they gave you doesnt work, then say you are not leaving until you either get the RIGHT key, or your money back.

well it turns that the locks on my car been changed at some point.. I can actualy beleive this as im sure the engine in my car is from a pug 106 gti.

Im under the impression that when you change the ecu to suite the engine, you also need the barrel and key to go with it?

They wont even refund me as they have supplied the right key for the VIN and registration number given.

Tough luck eh!!

Ive managed to source locks and barrel from a vtr for 40 quid but now im worried that i need to ECU to go with it and i know it wont work as its from a VTR and mines is a VTS.

What do i do now? =(

well id unlock the ecu and then fit the vtr lock set you mentioned easy and you can do an engine swap with out repacing the barrel and immobiliser by unlocking the ecu which i think is your best bet

I'd be more concerned why my car had a 106gti engine in, was marked as a vts but has the VIN of a 1.1!!!!!!

what does your log book say?

how do i get the ecu unlocked and where would i go? and what about a price for that?

jeffchiz
12th April 2011, 16:38
you unlock the ecu by turning the car on and pulling the immobiliser out that will unlock it, but if its already had an engine conversion then 99% of the time the ecu is already unlocked, tbh i am a little confused with the whole story, about why your vin number is coming up as a 1.0 but you say its a vts but might have a gti engine in it lol all very confusing pour moi

The reason it said it was a key for a 1.0 spree is because when the girl put the order for the key in (she showd me on the computer) because she put in the reg and vin number thats ot going to be the right key, and instead of searching for the model of the car on the drop down list she just chose the first option wich was the 1.0 spree... she showd me how to put the key order through on the citreon computer and she wasnt lying.. thats the only reason that was printed on the label. When she put in the VIN and Reg it did come up a VTS. The reason the engine was changed was because the origonal engine dropped a valve, the guy who had it before me put his younger brothers GTI engine in it because it had a rear end shunt and wasnt worth getting it fixed. I've seen the picture of that car with the damage to prove it.

I cant even unlock the ecu myself because i cant get the car running to pull the ecu out?? any other way?

I swaped my XR2 for a spare engine and ECU my mate had lying so I do have a spare ECU there for a GTI engine if that is any use to me?

pull the immobeliser out** sorry

jeffchiz
12th April 2011, 18:50
oh i see so when the engine conversion was carried out the guy did a proper job and changed the locks, immobliser and pick up ring and now you've ordered a key which referred to the old engine/ecu?

you can try the other ecu but make sure your immoliser is pulled out, but then..... if you dont have a right key for the key for the barrel then im not sure the only thing i can think off is to get the full lock set/ecu from another saxo

Well thanks to the help of some one on the forum I've managed to get into the car! No i can change the locks and barrel =D

If my ECU has been unlocked, would changing the barrel not fire it up without having to programme the key to it? or the the actual key for my ecu?

StevoS3

if your ecu has been unlocked, it will fire up when you change the barrel
