Hi guys.

just spent 20 mins on the phone adding new cars onto a multi car policy and the nice lady on the phone (sarah) said that you get your 1 years nc after only 4 months on your policy.

so basically on any policy multi car or not cancel after 4 months and you get 1 year.

i told her about people having trouble with the 10 month policy and other insurers not accepting nc, and her reply was "we send you paper work saying you earned 1years no claims, and it does not mention the duration of your insurance policy" she also said this applies after 4 months.

:) peace out.

What about if you have passed your test on your 17th Birthday (unlikely but possible)

You take out a multicar policy, get your 1 years NCB after 4 months and then try to use this on another policy?

You would be 17 years and 4 months old but have a years NCB
No company would accept that you had a years NCB as you have not been driving a year so you couldnt even get a quote

I am not saying you are wrong but there is a massive flaw there

My second years ncb is going to be after being on a multicar quote, apparently some insurers dont recognise it

also, admiralm gave me a years ncb after being a named driver on my mums policy, again other insurers arnt likely to honour this

but admiral will, shame theyre the shittest for mods, theyre gonna be the cheapest because no where else will i have NCB

This is true and i done exactly what devilsadvocate said

I was 17 and 5 months and just passed and then got put on the multicar for 4 months and was told because i had been on there over 3 months i would get a years no claims - which i did
As id only been driving 4 months i had the problem of finding another insurer, so i stayed with them.

End of this year ill be looking to change, with (touch wood) 2 years no claims but 1 year and 4 months driving experience... should be fun.

I know the compare websites dont let you put driving and had license for 4 months and a years no claims.

But surely companies will accept it because you can work up your no claims on a ped and provisional when your 16?

yh well the situation with me is.

im 4 months into a single car policy (c2) but making it a multi car by adding another car (206 workhorse) i paid my c2 insurance up front so im covered till december on that but will oviously be on a multica until april so in december i get my 1 years ncd on the c2 then it gets added onto the multi car until april. which then i get another year so 2years on the c2 and one year on the 206.

i didnt mention it about it being honoured by other insurers and she was certain 100% that its just a letter saying i have 1years ncd.

perfectly possible - i had my car insured for 6 months before i passed my test, so although i have nearly 4 years on my liscence, i have 4 1/2 years no claims. 5 as of december. (using 2 years @ 10 month accelerators - if i hadnt used them would be 5 years in March, and 5 years licence in july 2012. still more no claims than years on licence)

It's a grey area, I would double check with insurers to be honest

If you try to get a policy online for more years than you have been driving then it normally flags up an error on the quote, perhaps calling them allows you to do it, Im not sure?

Effectively you could get three multicar policies in a 12 month period, have 3 years NCB and only be 18. How could an insurance company accept that?

boom owned !

i have just got off the phone to sarah too, lovely bird probably the same one!

basically the car has to be on the policy for 3 months for it to recieve a years no claims at renewal time, so i have suspended my insurace, but as long as i put a new car onto the multicar policy within 3 months of my renewal i will earn 1NCB and yet technically only paid for 6 months of insurance ha :p

you cannot have 3 years NCB earner from the same year (apr 2009-apr 2010) put onto one policy the following year. the NCB means that, for that year, there wasnt a claim.

i had this before, I have two policies on cars, but the 5 years, and 4 years NCB cannot be combines to make 9 for one policy next year.

So it makes the point of being able to get a years NCB after 3 months pointless then?

not really, if youve been driving for 2 years, as a named driver, take out this policy with admiral, and then after 3 months, have your NCB, and start hunting for quotes elsewhere. youve got a years NCB.

in reality, the OP is talking shite, as i cant see admiral doing this, nor would the other insurance companies accept this NCB from admiral, when its only 3 months, im sure elephant had problems first to get other companies to accept there bonus 10 months scheme. after all, ins companies have to agree on it all.

Again , Anyone actually done this to prove you can cancel after 4 month and get a years no claims ?
