got in the sax, 8 am, slammed on Tom Sawyer by Rush, real loud, and set off to work, got on to the main road, and all of a sudden i have no clutch!

it was on the cards to get replaced at the end of the month, but thought it would at least last til then.

now i am fucked. had to push it to the edge of the road, on a double yellow line.

i gotta find £££ ASAP. i dont ave shit either lol

donations are greatly appreciated lol

i joke.

but, seriously though, this is fucked. dunno how am to get it to the garage now, gonna have to get some1 to tow me or something.

cant walk for 2 weeks. just got a stitch and shin splints walking the 1/2 a mile to work.

How did clutch go?

My clutch is fucked as well, got it in for repair for a new valeo clutch fitted at 175 with 2 year warranty. Mine don't sound too healthy either. Grinding and all sorts.

Try and get a garage to TOW you for the price of the fuel and have the clutch done there.

How did clutch go?

i was just driving up the road, (my clutch sits well high, and have no biting point, dont even need it to change gear really) and all of a sudden i went to accelerate, and it just revved its ass off. tried to change gear and the pedal is really light. guessing the cables snapped aswel.

Was it not possible to still drive the car without the clutch? I know I did mine for quite some distance to get it home.

If you got stitch and shin splints walking half a mile it sounds like 2 weeks of it may do you good.

15th April 2011, 09:22
aye, put in 1st with the engine off and start it. Bit rough but you can change gears without using the clutch by matching the speeds of the engine and the box.

Fitting a clutch isnt too bad of a job though!

put it in first, put ur foot on accelerator, start car, foot down, it'll jolt forward like it is going to stall and then it'll usually start, if you only live half a mile away then you'll be able to get it home or at least somewhere safer to leave it

Failing clutches suck. :(

I knew mine was on it's way out, still drove to a meet, came up onto the M62, giving it a bit, went past a chavved up 107, at full chat, went to shift into 3rd, and suddenly couldn't get anything, ended up coasting onto the hard shoulder, luckily, I was in convoy with someone, so wasn't alone. No breakdown cover, either. Tow rope, innit. ;) Know what I did? I got my mate to tow it back to his, and then, instead of changing the clutch, we 16vd it. My clutch never needed replacing again.

I know, poor story bro. :(

Didn't you feel a tinge of embarassment when the 107 overtook you again? I know I would!

Newtz07
15th April 2011, 10:35
hahaha, i would of hidden my head in shame as my car rolled to a stop and the 107 flew past me at full chat at 50 mph! lol

ahh well these things happen. usually to me though :(

If you walk at 4mph, it would only take about 7 or 8 minutes of walking to do half a mile! Your clutch going is a sign, a sign that you should walk more :zainy:

Yer i know. but i miss my car when its not with me at all times. surely you understand this?

where i work aswel, there is nowhere to get dinner from, you have to drive to cash machines/butty shops etc

plus, when i am late for work, everyday, the car puts me back on time

but yer, i think its time to walk to work in future! at least for a month,. see how much i save on fuel

Slightly. Although, as it came past I was still trying to force the bitch into gear. Wasn't having any of it, even with rev matching. :geek:

I remember when my clutch went on my Saxo, luckily i had to wait for a recovery truck. :homme:

My clutch bites at the top on my car atm, been like that for the last 10k miles. I hope it doesnt go as i aint got the coin to change it. :D 78660 on original iirc.

Newtz07
15th April 2011, 11:21
yer this one has done 70k on original. so not bad.

when i bought it the clutch was riding high, and knew it needed replacing, hence why i got it cheap, but never got it done. now i pay the price...

ah well. its the way she blows

start car in second with foot on accelerator so that you pull away and at arond 2500rpm it should slide into the next gear, had to do this for 30milesto get home
