Cam's Wicked Red R - Now EP3 Type R

This is my VTR which i bought last may. Always wanted to spend some money on it but could never spare the cash,
but hopefully i can start to spend some money and get it how i want it.

Oilite rear axle lowered 50mm to replaced my broken rear axle Done
Lower 50mm on apex springs and shocks

Supersprint 2" race system Done
Clear/red Jewels Done
Buckets (Maybe strip rear and get harnesses with false floor)
Uprated panel filter or enclosed induction

Thats all i can think of at the moment.

I have an oilite rear axle thats getting fitted tuesday which has been lowered 50mm.
I will then get an apex 50mm suspension kit to match when i get some more money together.

I have already fitted a supersprint 2" system when Kamracing had it on sale :)
but it doesnt have the rasp i want as the cat is still in the manifold.

I have a starting when warm problem i need to sort out as well which i will hopefully do soon :)

This will be slow progress but i will try to do as much as i can and keep it updated.

Just a quick update, axle wasn't fitted today after I needed it for work.
It should get done tomorrow now.

I did strip out some of the rear, it's on a temp basis at the moment just to see if I will go further down that route.

Got my oilite axle on today, so the back is down 50mm now
and the front is still like a tractor, back sits perfectly now.

Getting payed tomorrow so hopefully have some left for the apex kit.
Also had the spare wheel cage re welded up so it doesnt squek now on a rough road.
Not a single rattle or squek from the car now.

Wanted to spray my a,b,c pillars black, so started today with the a pillars.
But i didnt have enough time to finish the b and c pillars so will do them tomorrow.

It made a massive difference to the front and i much prefer them black.

MOT coming up soon, so need to get new headlights as the brackets on mine have snapped so only held in with 1 or 2 bolts, will smoke them the same time.
Also going to get this starting prob sorted and get the front lowered 50mm
Might be able to get springs and shocks sorted this week.

Happy with results, want to retrim headlining now in black suede.

Still unsure when i can get front lowered, got MOT in 3 weeks. Just want to get that out of the way.

Nothing happening recently, got some VTS alloys pretty cheap.
Put them on today which turned out to be harder than i thought.
Didnt have the locking wheel nut so had to sort that out then the other bolts were so tight it snapped the wheel brace, but got there in the end :)

Only pics i have at the moment. Think i had a bargain on the wheels on £75 quid with tyres local as well.

I did buy clear jewels with bottom tinted red but they were damaged in the post so trying to sort that out.
Also got a replacement headlight trim i need to spray then thats it until after MOT.

Thanks :), i really like the wheels still undecided whether to do them in gloss black yet, be much better with the front lowered too. hopefully if the MOT goes through fine i can afford to get it done :)

yeah thats what im thinking, i could put the vtr wheels back on and spend a few days prepping these and get a good finish. Also need to get rid of those wing mirrors cant see anything out of them and cant adjust them becuase the springs wont move, dont like them anyway :(

Gave the car a good wash today.
I sprayed the replacement headlight trim but when it came to fitting it the bracket on the headlight had snapped so need a new headlight as the other brackets have snapped and its a bit wobbly.
Bit tamping more money i didnt want to spend.
If anyone selling a driverside headlight pretty cheap with all brackets in tact, let me know :)

Havnt had much to update on lately. But i got a fresh MOT now after a little bit of a fan problem and a new lambda :)

Although my fan turns on now at the second ignition switch no matter whether its cold or warm and stays on constantly until about 4-5 mins after turning the car off, little annoying but id rather that than not at all.

Bought some rear jewels with bottom tinted red.

Also bought a raceland 4-2-1 and BMC induction from TISANDY which im sure you all know was a big scam :(. So got to wait for my money back from that to do anything else.

And i got a MAP sensor and ICV to try cure my dodgy starting and idling but it didnt help so got to move on to other sensors now.

Other than that not alot happening until i get my money back from the paypal :(

Got round to smoking my headlights as i had some spray paint lying around, so i could do it for free :)

Absolute nightmare doing it, one headlight the glue split straight away but the other the glue wasnt even getting hot after over 15 minutes in the oven at 150oc. Had to hack away all the glue and force it off, took forever.

The passenger side light i discovered the top bracket had snapped so got a temp fix in at the moment as you can see the light sits slightly lower than the other and the bumper has dropped over time so plan on refitting it properly.

Not so much an update just some news really.

Found out i got an apprenticeship with the steelworks, which starts september so absolutly over the moon about this finally earning good money. Progress will speed up once i start this!

Also bought a red rallye carpet and another manifold which should be here this week.

Had a productive 2 days

Firstly
My raceland manifold arrived from sophia_bush. Got straight onto fitting that after a trip to citroen to get the oil filter conversion parts.

Had an absolute nightmare getting the original manifold off as the bolts had siezed and then rounded so had to chiesel them off.

Took forever then i couldnt tap the oil return as the m10 was slightly too big and the m8 was too small so took a while but plugged it in the end after a bit of shaving and hammering.

finished result, had to shave off some of the studs as i could get a bolt on as it was too close to the manifold but after many hours i got it. The supersprint doesnt sound as raspy as i thought and pop as much as i wanted but going to give a week or too.

Been away from this along time due to not having a job through summer. But got an apprenticeship now with some updates!!

Its a supersprint mate, it sounds better now i think the manifold needed bedding in thats all :) saxsports are nice though

Lovely looking car mate! Im considering some gaz coilies, how does it feel on them, quite firm? Also, how much thread is there left on the coils in this picture? Or is this at the lowest they go?

I think there are 2-3 threads left on coil overs. Yeah I had them on hardest setting and they were bit to firm for daily use. Got them around half now still nice and firm but more comfortable.

Still haven't managed new pics of wing mirrors or anything. I will have to sort them out when I get time off closer to Christmas.

Nothing further planned for the car at the moment, deciding on what I should do with it as my insurance is up and giving me a lot more options.

On hardest setting it is pretty rock hard. But I got them around half way on adjusters now and it's nice and firm. Lovely bit of kit I think.

So don't know whether to spend any more on this or spend and keep it for a good while. For extra £50 could insure a vts or gti etc which seems a better base to start if I wanted to spend some money.

Decided I will keep the car, couldn't find a god replacement so would rather keep this. Bought a couple of things for it, still waiting for 1 or 2 things to come.

Hated the little silver bee sting aerial it had, so instead of getting another one I got a blank.

My grill was badly meshed and glued into place by the previous owner, so after pulling it out and taking ages to get rid of the glue behind it, I got my new grill on.

It's completely standard, and I don't plan on any changes at the moment. It's been well looked after and I plan on keeping it that way and enjoying it. Maybe one or two small changes in the future but nothing planned at the moment.

Can't wait to pick it up now.
