sorry for a dumb question, but how do you tell what engine it is in the vtr like roller or non roller?
as ive been offered some cams for a silver top roller type engine just wana make sure they will fit my vtr, its a 51 plate 3plug engine?

I'm not sure but I think yours is Non-Roller.
My 2000 is non Roller. My 1999 is roller.
But, you can see for sure by taking your rocker cover off and looking lol. Takes 5mins. :fcuk:

yeah arent the newer ones meant to be the roller type tho? not the old ones lol just wana know for sure weather these cams will fit mine im confused as to which engine aha

Well yeh, you're right, up to '97 is Non Roller, '97 on is Roller.

so mine will defo be a roller type then as its a 51 plate and its the faster engine 100bhp one not the other one so im guessing all will be ok lol

Yeh it'll be okay.
Sorry I got miked up before, Was thinking of a Non Roller I have in the shed lol.

WTF are you talking about, doyle!
Yours will be roller type. Remember you need to change head gasket to fit the cam (not cams - 8v has single cam shaft). You might want to look at some better valve springs as well, the roller rocker engines have softer springs from what I have read. Just a thought - you should be okay unless you like to bounce it off the limiter all the time. Good luck with it mate.
