Ok, so firstly i had a sportex racetube with a sportex backbox, loud as fook, typical chavy exhaust so changed it for a piper, but with still the same centre section (sportex racetube)
Wasnt very loud at all, so thought the backbox wasnt good, but the backbox and centre%2

ok, you sure you wasn't mistaking the blowing for exhaust note?
edit, one of my old cars blew under the gear stick and was loud inside the car while driving

nope, i took it to the garage and let them drive it onto the ramps, it was loud as fuck and sounded mint, it was just the blowing between the mani and the decat : the decat pipe and backbox has been welded together so no blowing from there.

cant really suggest anything solid apart from maybe the new exhaust hasnt bedded in yet. Alternatively the loud one may have knackered baffles due to age, oil from knackered stem seals inside etc

possible but most exhausts should be loud with a decat shouldnt they?

i would of thought so tbh. A piper will be quieter than you old one but it should still sound great with a decat and 4-1. My piper was epic on my old vts, it wouldn't shut up lol

do you know which exhaust part is the offending part exactly?
you may find the cheaper sportex uses a different bore, im not sure though. Just thinking of ideas.

so whats the problem? Its too quiet?
Piper use an 8" silencer cylinder. What is the sportex? 6"?
If its the same size then cheaper or less sound damping material is the reason for the sportex being louder.

kam, yes its too quiet.
my supersprint atm sounds nothing louder than a normal exhaust, only when it was blowing slightly it was loud and sounded class.
