prolly sounds stupid like but bear with me ;)

What does the strut brace actually do, I'm guessing strengthen it for knocks? but what benefit does it actually give and what's the best one to get?

get omp upper and lower and they just strenthn the front end between the struts so they dont flex so much
correct if wrong

Reduce chassis flex, improves handling. Best cheap mod imo.

As said mate reduces chassis flex and makes handling better can improve tyre wear also

Lower makes a bigger difference in my experience, top is more for show. Don't get me wrong it helps it not much

Lower makes more difference, but they work best when you have both.

I have a lower one for sale if any one is interested?... ;)

the best thing u can do to a saxo struts and suspension power is only good when you can put it down

Both make a difference whether the customer notices or not. Certainly with the OMP ones anyway as they are a decent thickness material so dont flex like cheap alloy ones.
Mostly you will notice an improvement as the camber changes on the road. On back to back testing we noticed that coming off roundabouts traction was superior also on corner exit.

ive got an OMP upper brace mate if interested, used but does the job and looks cool, could do with a repaint if your really picky and want a show winner but still looks good as it is. im in ellesmere port so not too far from manchester and could always meet halfway or something, im after £40, PM me if interested

I have an upper OMP, got it second hand off the 'bay. It is definitely one of the best cheap mods, stiffens up the front end of the car. I actually noticed quite a lot of difference after I fitted it, car seems to fight back less though corners.

how hard is the lower one to fit?

Pretty easy to fit, but I would avoid fitting one if your car is 40mm (or so) lower than standard... they tend to catch on speed bumps!

have downsides aswell , mates car got slammed from the side and the upper and lower bracers tranfered force to the other side of the car causing 30% odd more damage, but i want one on the spaxo :P

2 bolts on the back of the wishbone, undo them put the brace over and do the nuts back up, peice of piss

As I'm lowerd 50/60 would it be hitting every speed bump?

Near enough... you would have to take them VERY slowly, and some it would definitely catch on... those nasty plastic ones for example! They're right f*ckers.
