Overheating brakes will cause the discs to warp, a tell tale sign of this is a red disc, caused by a seized caliper and/or filthy caliper carrier (not allowing the pads to move freely)
possibly even a TERRIBLE quality disc??

I've got this problem atm on my car. I get to around 60 and the steering shakes like mad, then if you try to push through it to 70/80 there's really bad rattle near the pedals. I've had wheels balanced and even tried swapping wheels from back to front. Reckon getting the disks/pads changed might fix it?

You wouldn't get a red disc on a saxo, that is SERIOUS braking power from high speeds.
An overheated disc will have a blue tint to it
If possible it would be worth getting the run out of the hub measured as if this is out you will always be warping discs

if i can upload the photos i have got picks of both front and rear disks glowing orange.. that is standard disks and calipers but using mintex 1155 pads if it works i will prove you wrong that you can get disks that hot on a saxo and yes we had been caining the shit out of it for a fair while beforehand

new info:
check the front hub run outs and found the o/s was bent so its the reason its been eating disks

im not on about the blue scoring from heavy breaking actually, i'm on about red around the disc if a caliper is sticking and it will smell like burning brakes, this can happen to any car brakes even on a smart car!
