View Full Version : Fiat Panda (under A tree for 3.5 years) SHOCKING! (Pics on page 2 because photobucket is GAY!!)

Right where do i start with this one!

The car in question is a Fiat Panda active that belongs to someone from our local snooker club, i was asked if i could do something about the "moss" that had appeared over time on the paintwork due to the car been stood still for a "little while" lol.

So i asked how long had it been stood for? A few weeks, months, no 3 and a half years :fcuk: :fcuk:, so whilst im trying to catch my breath he then informs me that its been stood under some trees in the garden!, so now i was beginning to get a picture in my head of how bad this could possibly be, however nothing and i mean nothing could prepare me for the shocking state of this car that awaited me!

Some horrific pictures!

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae265/kbjukes/Panda%20detail/040.jpg
:fcuk::fcuk::fcuk::fcuk:

So not to be defeated i whipped out the PW and proceeded to get as much debris off the car as i could before foaming the car and 2bm etc, leaving for one of the best 50/50 ive ever seen! ;)

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae265/kbjukes/Panda%20detail/049.jpg

So now for the pre-wash stage, used some Valet pro SF through the lance and left to dwell for around 5 minutes or so.

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae265/kbjukes/Panda%20detail/075.jpg

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae265/kbjukes/Panda%20detail/078.jpg

Then 2 bucket wash using some Maxi suuds, then fully rinsed, then clayed with some BH clay, tbh the only areas that were really bad were the roof and bonnet (as usual) lol.

So now fully clayed the car was given a hit with some Menzerna power finish on a blue 3M pad, this was proving quite successful, the owner wasnt too fussed about "correcting" the paint, so with this in mind i proceeded to carry on with this combo, which in turn worked pretty well i have to say with only deeper scratches remaining.

a quick 50/50

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae265/kbjukes/Panda%20detail/087.jpg

So with the polishing complete i then went over the car with some Dodo Juice Lime prime to aid with the sealant/ wax application.

DJ LP been buffed off before LSP

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae265/kbjukes/Panda%20detail/104.jpg

Then went around the car dressing the bumpers, normally i would have used sme CG Natural look dressing, however i stumbled on an old bottle of Auto Glym bumper care, which left this

50/50 back bumper.

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae265/kbjukes/Panda%20detail/100.jpg

This was repeated all around the vehicle.

I then proceeded with a coat of Zaino Z2 followed by a layer of Supernatural.

Leaving some lovely reflections on the paintwork.

All done!!

Without doubt the most rewarding thing is seeing the owners face when its all finished, this for me has been an enjoyable day and i had great fun doing it, beats watching the wedding lol, cheers for looking guys and girls,

Oh and i thought id give the beast a quick wash and grab a sneeky pic whilst i was there lol.;)

Wow those first couple of pictures where pretty painful to look at, but thats a top job.

Just a little question is it a hobby of yours or do you do it for money?

Its a bit of both really, started off as a hobby on mine and the family's cars, however as word spreads you get a few people asking "can you do mine" lol and it spreads from there really and people start paying you to clean their cars properly.

I'm in an awkward position at the moment whether to take Detailing/ Valeting on as a full time job due to me having a mortgage, baby etc, these things cost money and need a regular income, if the client base was there then i would do it no hesitation, there are also lots of other things to consider such as, Material costs, insurances, VAT, Tax, Maintaining a van etc, all these things add up.

Also most people will always take their cars to the local hand wash for £5 as a) money is a bit tight at the moment, and b) these folk have no idea what damage is been done to their vehicle.

If the chance was there to do it then like i say i wouldn't waste the opportunity as its something i really have a passion for and love doing, so who knows.

Also thanks to everyone for all the lovely feedback, much appreciated, i even got a thanks from Peter D!!:fcuk: lol, muchas love. x
