Wired up my jbl sub today with a juice amp 500w iirc, worked a treat, went for a drive but it stoped working. Pulled over to find that my ground wire had come away from the terminal, bad crimp by me or sumthing. So i popped the inline fuse out straight away so as not to cause any damage, got home and re- earthed it but no joy, still in protect mode and just making popping noises thru the sub. I have checked each conection 5 times, ive got a good earth etc.. So what could it be?

Could the amp just be blown due to what happened.

put the fuse back in and bridge a piece of wire from the power on the amp to remote (only needs to be held on to see if protection light goes out), if the light goes out and power light comes on, theres something wrong with remote cable. if it doesnt then im safe to say you have blown your amp. i fried mine last month :(

i had this once and i think it was because i had flicked the power on the terminal before i finally got it screwed down all i did was take power off then put it back on and all was fine

cant imagine that blowing an amp the fuse would have died first right?

you tried bypassing the remote with a constant live? (run a lead from power to remote input on amp)

sorted it now, bought a new fli amp instead. and all is good. happy with it.

soo conclusion is the amp was bad.

thanks for all the advice tho guys, much aprichiated.

i actualy took the cover off it and there looked to be solder missing from a conection on what looked like some sort of resistor, but im not the man to be messing with complicated electrics.
