Cambelt problems

Hi im new to the site and im having a bit of a problem and wondered if any1 can help ?

When i start my 2000 model VTR it has a squeaking sound coming from the cambelt i think ! Does it mean it on its way out

Does it only do this from cold?
If so it could be that the fan belt needs tightening. Give this a go first and see if it solves the problem.

As already said, it could just be the aux belt making noise.
