I need an electrical genius to help me out? As my brake lights are constantly on and my headlights are constantly on the main beam they won’t switch to side lights.

I’m guessing its something simple but I don’t know what.

Problems solving is becoming a hobby of mine ;)

have you changed lights or took them off recently? maybe you put connectors in backwards or something like that?! also look in haynes manual and chech which fuses they run from and check these aswell.

hope this helps!

I havent touched the lights but I'm thinking it might be a relay? I dont think its a fuse otherwise they just wouldn't come on.

I should probably mention its just had a vts conversion but we hadn't touched any of the interior based wires so its a bit of a mystery.

I'm going to be checking the earths over when I'm next working on it.... other than that I guess its a case of just messing about with things lol... something I'm quite good at lol.... "errrr..... what happens if I put this wire in here?"..... "wow the engine started.... I am a hero!" lol

my mate had this and it turned out to be the bulbs in the wrong places in the back lights(brake lights) so i would check that mate

I havent touched the bulbs though and they were working fine before so I think "Guess the wire" is the only option.

uve either got a bad earth or you have the wrong bulb in your brake lights which is causing a back feed to the front lites.

The earth sounds more likley due to the recent disruption the wires have seen lately so I'll take a look.

Cheers for your help people.

Solved, it was the "what happens if I mess with this?" approach that worked turned out to be the 4pin connector on the suspension turret was back to front, although it decided that it wasn't going to turn off after the first initial celebration of yey the lights work as they should, but removing the 3rd pin has stopped that! the engine even ran with the battery off! lol... all is good now apart from the reverse light, but I suspect I'll solve that another day
