Im thinking of buying an AX GT and either fitting a VTS engine in it or buying it with one already fitted.
Does anyone know what i am to look out for when buying one of these?
Also does anyone know roughly what the 0-60 would be on a VTS converted model?

i had one of these mate
i had an ax gti though not a gt
things to be looking out for
rust - axs are prone to this areas to look for
engine bay
under the body kit the archers and skirts
the rear boot floor
stud conversions, all ax gts are 3 stud, so if hasnt been changed dont expect it to stop well as brakes are shit and rears are on drums, if it is converted make sure its been done properly
i would recommend a full 4 stud conversion tho including the rear beam on discs and then uprate the front brakes as well
engine, the conversion is a straight swap i belive dont think the mounts have to be cut etc, just make sure all the wiring is done correctly, i would suggest uprating the dash as well so it includes your oil temp water temp and the speedo goes round to 140 then as gt clocks dont, if its a mk1 then your buggered as the dash is different all together and the clocks cant be changed
make sure the drive shafts are correct, mine had tapered ones fitted and should have been non tapered
apart from that cant think of much else, these are great little car 120bhp + in a car that weighs 750kg so thats nearly 200bhp per tonne
they are quicker than a vts but not by much it wont leave one for dead, accelration will be better slightly better due to weight, or unless it has the the 1.4 box still then it will be rapid to 100 and top end will by down, top speed will be the same if the vts box is kept on, but the thrill comes from the fact its in ax and it just seems mad, great car and would defo own another

Its pratically the same as a stripped VTS with its VTS engine in.

mine on standard cams kept up with a mates stripped cammed vts. Pot luck depending on what engine you get.

And I'd much rather have the looks of a vts then an ax.

I doubt a VTS can do a 14sec 1/4 mile
Personally I would go for a S1 106 cos the AX is way too ugly lol
