Does anyone know what happens if you cause death by dangerous driving?

I know there are 3 catagories:

1. Boy Racer catagory (consists of reckless driving or in a heavily modified car)
2. Use of a mobile phone
3. Accidental

Under the catagory - Accidental (for example sneezing at the wheel, or lack of concentration)

cheers

i was told the 3rd catagory doesnt come with a sentance? serious question tho, i know someone who was at the scene when it happend and the car that caused it drove away, now my friend is on bail because she reported it to the police. Its going under catagory 3.... but im worried like.

i actually did nothing, i wasnt there, but its someone close to me, shes a good driver and always sticks to the speed limits etc.

She stayed at scene of accident and the police arrested her.

The driver who was killed rolled his car, and died instantly when he hit a tree. There was no skid marks on the road, the driver wasnt wearing his seat belt and her car did not make contact with his car. I dont understand it, even his parents said in the paper it was a tragic accident yet the police are still persueing my friend. Re-set bail coz there isnt enough evidence and now all her friends are being interviewed including me! :(

the guy turned off the road himself, he was speeding aswell and failed to use any breaks. My friend who is the 19 year old girl on the news report said that the car behind of her pulled into the fast land and the guy was coming down the fast lane too quick, she looked in her mirror seen both, looked again and the car that crashed was gone. She went around the road and come back and he had swerved into the trees were the car was in the trees

But then again the police have to do their jobs so...

I wouldnt worry, similar happened to my mate. He was speeding doing 50 in a 40, it was a bypass with a large footpath either side of the road. He hit a girl at like 2am walking back from a party..dosent take much to work it out, she was drunk...he got arrested, similar process to what you just said and despite him speeding which they could have used against him they realised it wasnt his fault that she fell into the road, same could have happened to anyone. He was inocent. Even the family of the girl said so. Yet all the locals and friends suddenly decide the road is notourious for high speeds and that he was a boy racer...in a standard astra doing 50? lol

yeah, it sickens me. Her bail hearing was 2morro, and they have just told her that its being re-bailed, while they do further interviews etc. They have took her car and phone. Both were fine, no txt or phone driving or any reason to suspect the car. I just cant get why they are dragging it on. Annoys me.

By the sounds of it, her staying and reporting it was a good thing. Why on earth the police dont see it this way is insane.

like ah said mate they HAVE to do their jobs when it involves a fatal accident. its gota be done with a fine tooth comb for all the correct info. One of my mates is a police officer so i hear stories liek thsi all the time, there will be a shit load of paper work that will need to be carried out aswell.

Sounds like they are trying to rule out the possibility of them racing each other.

theres 3 categories of dangerous driving,
i got charged for the second but got the penalty of the first least severe type.
death by dangerous driving is the 3rd type.
i was looking at a number of weeks in custody, so even for the 2nd category youre looking at prison, a fine and a ban

Mordente10
11th May 2011, 12:43
yeh but wasn't the girls fault plus they have no evidence it was her fault either so she will be just fine!! if she was guilty then she could of easily sped off and and no one would of ever knew she was involved llf!!

apparently according to her solicitor if her car had of been heavily moddified they could of put it down to street racing. and there would be a prison sentance

to actually get done with death by dangerous driving, you will get a hefty fine, driving ban and UPTO 14 years prison sentence (trust me) , but as she didnt race and didnt hit the other driver she will walk free.

ive been done for dangerous driving and what youve listed is absolute crap
there are 3 types as i said before but theyre only severities not
'modified cars', 'normal cars accidently being naughty' etc
