my parents recieved a letter at my old address saying the above. i cant get the letter as they live miles away and the dvla is shut, so i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this

i sold my vtr to ADK on here, and as many of you saw at bolten abbey its still being used and hasnt been 'disposed off'
i sent my log book off with my bf's log book and he got his letter saying no longer the owner etc.. but i didnt

where do i stand now? i dont really want to pay the £55 fine for it?
anyone recieved this letter before?

tell them to do one and supply proof its still on the road. the failure to notify is fair enough but the disposal bit means they think its been scrapped. or at least a shell with its plates on was scrapped........

When did BF get letter? Did you not wonder why you didn't get one?

Have you spoken to current owner recently?

BF got his letter in march :S the dvla can take ages doing it so i just thought to give it some time. then i never rang because we had no landline, and it slipped my mind after a while

surely i have proof they recieved it if they were both sent in the same envelope and they processed his but not mine?

Similar thing happened to me, I sold my mate my old Saxo, he ended up in a fatal crash in it :( The v5 was sent away, but never processed, so when the cops or whoever notified them of the car being scrapped, i got the fine.

I just went into the local office and explained the situation. DVLA sorted it no problem, they were very helpful.

Go in and speak to them face to face, its better than being on the phone.

DVLA are crap. It took about 10 weeks for my Z750's logbook to come! And i've heard countless times of people sending two logbook's off, one taking 2 weeks and the other 6 weeks.

Plus, tbf Nicole's had quite a bit on her mind having just dropped a sprog lol.

I don't understand why it's 'failure to notify dvla of disposal of vehicle'. You sent the logbook off to say it's been sold, not scrapped? :S

The disposal of the asset from the previous owners prospective.

DVLA are so unorganised!

If you have sold a car and the new owner hasnt sent the v5 off you are liable for any speeding tickets or fines attached to it. Plus a fine if you then dont tax it as will still be in your name.

DVLA are toss indeed, i get reminders all the time and threats of legal action/fines for disposal of scrap vehicles, thats why i keep a file with certificates of destruction now. One has been crushed for 2 years now and they still badger me about it even though i've sent them photocopies of the paperwork.
