Hi, My 2001 SAXO 106 has started to leak coolant, only from the cap (had the head done some 9 months and no problems since!), and thought that the cap be at fault. When I went to the local motor factor they did not have the type of cap i've got and subsequent 'googling' doesn't help.

Its a screw type cap with some lettering on top MTA A878, just 4 sided (if you know what i mean, not 8 sided) and the rubber looks ok, it may be from a Renault or something perhaps ?

Please can someone confirm which cap I should have.

By the way, if I run the car standing for about 15-20 mins, thats when the water runs out, fan comes on, temp gauge goes up slightly but not much, the coolant is clear and oil is ok, no other leaks anywhere.

Thanks in anticipation.
Gary.

Is it a Saxo or a 106? There is a drain hole on most of them next to the cap so it may just be overfilled with coolant. They like to find there own level.

It is loosing lots or just a bit? Just wondering because if it's lots it could be that your headgasket has gone again and compression is leaking into the cooling system. Hope I'm wrong.

Hi all, Thanks for the advice, the water runs from the cap but does not stop. However, think i will change the cap first, as it does not seem to be a Saxo one. Will let you know how i get on. Regards, Gary.
