hi there, my name is Dave im a new member and have just bought a 2001 vtr in BRG, im really happy with the car but i have just one little annoying problem. this being a scraping sound when going over bumps. when going over the slightest lumps and bumps in the road im getting a very loud scraping noise as if the exhaust is catching the floor but the exhaust is nowhere near to the ground. the car is lowered at the back but is not low enough for the exhaust to be scraping as the exhaust is at least 8-10 inches from the ground. it even happens when i go over a very slight raise in the road going very slow say 10-15mph? i have jacked the car up and the exhaust is tight and not loose at all. do any of you guys/girls no what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance
Dave

tyres rubbing the inner arches or the lip of the 1/4 panel ,try some small spacers 5 mm or so and grind the arch lip away
isit on std wheels? or aftermarket? and what tyres are fitted anything more than a 45profile and your gonna run into rubbing etc

have you still got original mud flaps on front? Mine used to scrap on small high bumps like when going into car parks n stuff

no mud flaps, the car is on its original vtr wheels, , i have checked tyres and they are not rubbing the arches will check the inner sides later. but the sound is like if you get the backbox and rub it on the floor, like metal grinding on the floor. could the tyres catching the inside cause this sound?
Thanks for the replies

This case is somewhat strange lol.
Can't think what it could be, unless your wheels are too big...

If I heard it I'd most likely know what it is, it's soo hard trying to work out noises over a Forum lol.

Vtr wheels should be 185 55 14 although not sure that would cause a metal grinding noise

this is why i dont think its anything to do with the tyres, would the rear axle make similar noises if that was on its way out?
