Hi guys

I bought a 2001 two tone a few months ago and while in excellent condition on the outside i have since made a bad discovery.

On close expection i had noticed surface rust in the engine bay.

I have since removed the ecu and the fuse box from the other side to show total rot. i can see the tyres.

Any idea what would be the best thing to do?

Garage or bodyshop. Would like a decent job done but obviously don't fancy spending a fortune.
MOT coming up and may just cut my losses.

Any tips/guidance would be great.

if you want a propper job doing you can buy the inner wings new for bwt 80 quid each but its a very involved job, or you could just get it cut out n pached.

yeah i may have to do that, incredible that it got through its last MOT i'd say.
I'll maybe post some photo's.
Not wanting to break the bank like but it's a shame as the rest of the car is very very good.

Had to get both my arches (under the ecu and fusebox) welded for MOT its very common on Saxo's. I was really annoyed that it never came up as a advisory last MOT considering it was at the same garage.....just out of interest have you had any quotes for getting it welded?

not a huge job to get them welded up, i've just done a pair. any garage worth its salt should be able to give a quote

I've not had any quotes at all but if i do get it done it'll have to be done well.
I don't even know where to go in Aberdeen

it's a common place for them to go, aswell as the boot floor, if you havent already have a look there too :S

just google ( body shops / garages in aberdeen ) and ring a few see if they do rust repare. When you have it done give it a good paint with hammerite and then get some waxoyl blathered all over it both sides to stop it rusting over again.
