temperature gauge going up and down.

i have a 1.1 saxo mark 2 and ill drive it for about 10 minutes and the temperature needle will sit at exactly half way. when im accelerating into a 60mph zone, sometimes the needle will go all the way to the top and a red light will come on, but then it will go back down and sit in the middle again. i drive to work every morning and it is about 15 miles. this will happen probably at least twice in the journey.

Thermostat problem, or an airlock.

Rebleed the system fully to check for air in it, use the bleed points to get it out.

If not, replace the thermostat as it won't be opening properly.

sounds stupid but add another earth from your battery to your engine and from the engine to the car body i had a 306 and that done that and after doing this it sorted it all it might not work but worh a try.

Had a look at his car seems the red light will come on but the temp guage is acutally showing below half way, also even after around 10 mins of driving opened up the rad top and water was shooting out any more ideas?

Thermostat. Did say that!

Exactly what I've had before, red light on, but half temperature. Change it over, I've even got a spare if you cover postage
