Enquiring for a mate as his vtr is leaking slightly. I know things but when it comes to fitting shit i just pay someone else to do it so i cant help him maybe you can.
Basically i told him to get a multilayer steel headgasket. As im sure there the best ones to get?
When i look on gmc motorsport there are different mm headgaskets. Only problem is i dont know if the head has been skimmed before or not and neither does he, BUT it will need to be done for this change, so i dont know which one to get?
Here is the list on the page with them all on.

Thickest will always work best, as long as you torque it down correctly..

well im not doing it a guy i know is doing it and i dont really want to piss him around and buy the wrong thicknest. is it just a case of getting the head skimmed and buying the thickest one and placing it on bolting it all up and thats it? I just dont want to make things difficult for the guy thats doing it by getting something silly.

Yeh + it will last longer.
If the head doesn't need skimmed then you don't need to. Tip: Use a metal ruler and stand it on its side on top of the head. If its flat then it shall be fine. But if in anyway it isn't, get it skimmed or it WILL blow again.

Ideally, you want to get the head skimmed and make sure you know how much was skimmed off... then approach a decent motor factors and tell them how much has been skimmed off.

Dont just get the thickest one off GMC lol theyre not just straight forward replacment gaskets
Usually a 'repair gasket' will do the trick but obviously you need to be more specific as to whether its been skimmed once twice or whatever previously.

If another guy is doing it, why not let him sort out the gasket too?
If you want to do it for cheapness, then just say your mate has a few gasket sets he dosent need and if he can let u kno what size you need you will go and get it..

I have just rang citroen and there saying it doesnt say on there system if its multilayer steel headgasket or not but i got the part number here it is
part number : 209w9
Anyone know if it is or not a mls one?
EDIT
The head is getting skimmed 100% even if it doesnt require doing just to be on the safe side thats its completely flat! So i still need to buy a headgasket! will i be okay with this one from GMC motorsport it says its 1.5MM

try lindley engineering in basford, notts. i get multilayer gaskets from there, usually on the shelf and would be able to check the head and skim as required as they are a reconditioning firm, got a good rep amongst the trade too

Im not skimming it pal, bloke at garage is sorting it all out so i need to get the stuff ready for him but not 100% sure what mm headgasket to get he says either way he is skimming it to make sure its even and flat. Think i should just gamble with 1.5mm????
