Just wondering, can you pick up a decent vtr on around 02/03 plate for around £1,100-£1,300 in decent nick???

Im expecting a decent tax return and planning on selling my Astra, and want a VTR, but it'll not be till about 4 weeks?

What shall i be looking out for on 2002 models when viewing them?

You'll get change from that i'd say. There's a few for sale on here.. but you need to be a member for 30 days and 100 posts to view!

And look out for the usual things;

driveshafts/cv joints
Check for play in rear beam bearings
Check when the cambelt was done
look for rust around the chassis legs area, under ECU tray in boot etc..
make sure PAS works..
and check the gears go in correctly without any suspicious noises..

Seen one near mine, in a garage, for £1,299 on a 03 plate, seems pretty smart, but has no Tax. Obviously id negotiate this is the deal, but has 10 month MOT

Well my moneys came through, just need to sell my Astra then ill be on the hunt for my VTR baby, yeah!!!

Looking to spend around £1000 on it, and have a bit money to spare..

MOT till Feb 2012, Tax November (I think)
Brand new rear discs and pads
Been accident repaired and has new Sub Frame, Wishbones, Drop Links etc

Just had tracking and balancing done.

Only problems are the bumper, the flexi in exhaust is blown, and maybe need new front pads....

What sort of mileage are you looking at? When I was looking for mine the mk2s at £1000-1200 were on around 90k. Although I managed to find my 60k one for £1275 :)

Wouldnt be too bothered around 80k - 90k as long as its been looked after (Timing Belt etc)
