Fcuk paying £1300 a year to drive 7.5 miles a day lol

The only way to get cheap insurance year on year is to be A) Older and/or B) Have NCB

7.5miles a day hahaha thats shite
and i was stupid enough to totally ignore the tracker part and went straight onto getting a quote, then i realized i had to have a tracker!
i got a quote of 1.9k from bewiser but without a tracker, but still, thats a good price for a 17 year old

was that the online quote or did you ring them up?
while i was still looking for a car i found a real nice pug 206 1.6L
did the online thing and got a quote of over 7k, not long later had an email from the saying "please ring us on blablabla as there is a discount"
and that discount was huge. They quoted over 7k and when we rang them up it was 2.2k..
im not sure if its actually a discount as they did that with any online quote i did, they'd send me the same email..
so just try ringing them mate :)

Tracker on a citroen?

That 4.8k discount is pure win, sounds like a marketing tactic though so it sounds like a good deal. There are more competitive quotes out there

fronting doesnt count as cheap insurance, as technically you have none :n:

I would suspect he has some NCB, lives in a decent rated area, has a decent job (according to insurers) etc

2k seems a lot for a 21 year old

How long have you had your licence?
What's your postcode rating?
Any NCB?
Any claims or convictions?

Key word there is 'track', people should read what they are letting themselves in for before they decide to buy something.

If you want cheaper insurance (sometimes) then having a tracker may be the only option for some people, even if it means only driving at certain times of the day and sticking to the speed limits lol

Really dont know where you guys look for insurance, got my VTR after 8 months of driving and i was paying £900 TP FT. Then to insure it the next year with 1 year NCB, it dropped too less then £600.... And i changed it to fully comp with just me on my policy!! You really need to look around more often

Im 19 and got a quote from admiral for 1400 but you have to pay it in one go. They bumped it up to nearly 2000 for the privelige of paying monthly :( bastards

honestly - buy a 1.1 and drive it for a year and get some no claims / years on your licence/ cheaper insurance.

all this paying 2k+ for a car at 17? why?

i had my GTi at 18 and paid 700 a year for it. its now 300 a year at 21, and the type r is only just under 600.

nothing wrong with having a small car for a year if the insurance is that rediclulious!

Just get the cheapest shittest thing with the smallest engine possiblea and build the no claims. Ignore car snobbery.

Admiral are normally good but if you have a shit postcode for example then most companies are going to be expensive, everyone's circumstances are different

Only problem is you are a female so thats a good chunk off the price to begin with!
My advice is to insure it yourself but add named drivers. I put my sister, dad and mum on mine and it knocked £150 off! Not to be sniffed at.

Just so everyone knows, out of all the companies that use trackers Coverbox is the best. I was in the same situation with my 1.1 when I had it. You can drive at any time of the day, but only have x amount of miles late at night and during rush hour. These can be adjusted though to suit your needs. In almost a year with Coverbox I came no where near using up all of my mileage. Good choice as a insurer imo :)
