Nikon D3000 SLR?

I’m looking for a good quality starter camera and someone I work with recommended the Nikon D3000 SLR.

Has anyone had one of these and can recommend it.

If you are interested in the D3000, Argos have it in stock for £299, but you can pick up a refurbed D3100 for £370 and its a better camera.
