Just thought i'd get a thread going where people can write little reviews of products theyve used to help others make informed choices.

I got a few new products the other day, hence this thread.

Note; i don't claim to be a detailing god / know everything, but thought i'd post some comments based upon my experience (which is really rare on saxp as most would rather beleive hear say instead of evidence)

So go ahead guys, write reviews on products you've had experience with. :y:

anyway, to the thread:

The car i tested the products on was my parents dark blue vectra, never been polished or waxed before in its 7 year old lifetime.

Menzerna 3.02 polish: i applied this by hand, using an ultimate German applicator (the course side). I found this polish really easy to use, you have to work it loads until it basically dissapears before buffing off. after 2 or 3 goes on each panel, swirls were reduced drastically.

Menzerna 106FA polish: this stuff is great, a lot less abbrasive than the 3.02 stuff, (as it's a finishing polish). On each panel i applied it once with the course side of the applicator, then once with the fine side of the applicator. Again, this stuff is really easy to use. You've got to work it until it nearly dissapears, and it buffs off efforlessly.

Chemical guys Glossworkz glaze: This stuff is excelent. really easy to work with, no curing time, and really does what it says. It's a filler heavy product, which although doesnt hide the deeper swirls, it makes a very noticeable difference on the lesser swirls. fills them in and leaves a nice glossy finish. it's also really easy to apply and buff off (used a microfibre applicator) i gave it two coats and swirls were masked across the car.

Chemical guys Blacklight sealant again, another easy to use CG product. I can't comment too much on durability as i only used it once, but it does leave the paint with a bit of a darker look. It's also very slick to touch after application. Again, i applied using a microfibre applicator, left for 15 mins, buffed off, and applied another layer after 30mins.

the last new product i tried was purple haze pro, its much the same as other dodo waxes in that its easy on easy off but it doesnt seem to hold the dust/dirt you get when rain dries on there as much, seems to last pretty well although it is a soft wax so durability isnt really what its designed for, id def recommend it though:y:

I brought some and used it today and it did a ok job of the little swirlds and gives a beautiful reflection but the big swirls were still there was kinda dissapointed but I was using it by hand so not expecting terific results

Did you clay and decontaminate the paintwork prior to using it?, this would help quite a bit mate.

naa tbh i didnt mate . i think the previous owners has just took it through a car wash every week and made a mess of the paint . i dont think ill get it shining agen by hand . needs a good machine ploish

Pre Was Stage- Valet Pro Snow Foam

IMO a very good foam and good value for money from CYC foams quite nice and is ph neutral so wont strip wax.

Wash Stage- Chemical Guys Maxi Suds

A very good shampoo that again foams very nice, has great cleaning abilities and you dont use that much in your bucket to get nice suds!, smells nice too which is a bonus:P

Wheels- Valet Pro Bilberry

A non acidic wheel cleaner from VP, used by most people and is regarded as one of the best on the market, good value for money too, great cleanng abilities and dilutes very well.

APC (All Purpose Cleaner)- Meguiars APC

This stuff is fantastic and can be used for a variety of jobs including, wheels, arches, Pre Wash (If stripping any protection on the paint), tyres, Engine Bays, Interior, the list goes on. It has great cleaning properties and dilutes very well.

Decontamination- Iron X or Wolfs De-Ironizer

Now i have tried both these and have found they are just as good as each other in terms of removing iron filings and other fallout from the bodywork, De- Ironizer for me is better value for money overall, Basically a strong wheel cleaner that can be used on the bodywork to remove fallout, imo very good.

Tar Remover- Tardis

An excellent tar remover that is so easy to use, simply apply leave a few moments until it starts bleeding off the paint then wipe with a clean microfibre, then rinse off.

Clay- Bilt Hamber

This clay bar can be used with water as lube and is certainly very good value for money and does a fantastic job of removing any remaining fallout left over after The Two Previous stages.

Polish- Menzerna

A very good polish that is used by many and regarded as one of the best, iv'e found it to be easy to use combined with 3m pads, as some pads such as the Sonus or Menzerna ones aren't all that good imo.

Dodo Juice Lime Pirme
Used on an enhancement detail on a mates RS Megane and gave superb results with near enough full on correction!!

This itself is a pre- wax cleanser but can be used on softer paints to correct defects, or can be used as a one step cleanser on things like enhancement details to give a nice shine and remove minor defects, this then lays a nice base to apply your sealent/ Wax. I find it best to apply with either DA/ Rotary, however it can be used by hand to good effect.

Poorboys- SSR range

Used this stuff in the past, i have to say i found it quite good at removing defects even by hand, ssr2 was a nice all rounder to use and was good as a 1 stage enhancement polish., when time is a factor.

Sealent- Zaino

Still my favourite product to date, Zaino Z2 accompanied by Z8 are amongst the best finishing products out there imo.

Z2 leaves a lovely sharp, wet, flake popping finish.

Z8 is used after to add that little bit more to the finish and smells great too:p

Finish Kare 1000p

This product blew me away with its durability and ease of use, but most important of all the PRICE!, £18 for a product that punches so much above its price tag, great for people who are on a budget, this makes great sense to buy, and it leaves fantastic results!

Wax- Dodo Juice Supernatural

Been using this wax a lot and have had great results with it, quite well priced compared to the other waxes such as Zymol or Swissvax.

I find it leaves a lovely wet looking finish and is easy to apply and remove, lasts quite well too.

Only used this once so can't really say much about durability, but i can say that it left a lovely finish on a friends Black BMW, was easy enough to apply and remove, not priced too badly and has had some other great reviews.

Dressing- Poorboys Natural Look

This stuff is excellent, leaves a very nice natural finish (hence the name lol), can be used on all plastics, dashboards, leather seats, tyres etc..., a good all rounder.

Glass Cleaner- Autoglym Fast Glass

Now everyone cringes at the word Autoglym, however to me Fast Glass does a great job of cleaning glass and is so easy to use.

Tyre Dressing- Meguairs Tyre Gel

What a lovely smell!! that is all!! lol

Glass sealant- Carlack 68

Very well priced and lasts a little bit longer than stated (obviously weather dependant), priced quite well too.

Pads/ Applicators- 3M, Meguairs

3M pads are what i have been using for a while now with the rotary and
i find them superb to use and work well with most polishes and cleansers.

Applicator wise i find the Megs foam applicators to be very good, can be used for applying sealants, wax, dressings, etc..

Right then If you have made it to the end of this post then well done lol, hopefully this will give some people more of an understanding about the products mentioned and how they are utilised, and to also show people what is out there.:y:

DODO JUICE supernatural hybrid paste wax/sealant - I brought this for a reasonable price of £30 and was expecting to be very good as supernatural wax gets raved about and the dodo juice brand itself is always promising. So I tried it today at a car show, I washed before I went then I used a QD when I got there then polished it with autobright cherry glaze then I waxed it with dodo juice supernatural hybrid. My first reaction was that I thought it was just a tiny bit more reflective than poorboys nattys blue paste wax and I wasnt thoroughly impressed however that reaction soon changed when the sun came out. The glimmer the car had and the reflections it was giving was grabbing attention from people who do not even like saxo's it was trememdous made the paint look a deeper shade of metallic blue loved it then I went to get my bucket seat professionally fitted by benwh555 who had done a spectacular job of making me a subframe, then I went home and gave it a quick wash and cleaned the wheels and the car was beading water in really tight beads and looked cool and looked cooler when washed and the traffic film removed and with some nice clean wheels to top it all off. I would give this wax a 10/10 so far maybe nock 1 off depending on how long it lasts, In short this wax can give stunning results even when a amatuer detailer uses it.
