Hi Guys,

Recently i've been getting what sounds to be a tinny clatter whenever I go over bumps etc, sounds like its coming from the back. At first I thought it was the exhaust, this has been repositioned and doesn't touch anything no matter how much I smack it.

Next I thought it was the spare wheel or cage, so padded it up so there wasn't any noise coming from there either but still the noise is there.

Went up to the garage near work and he came out in the car and said it could be a shock or the rear sub-frame?

Has anyone had this before and can they point me in the right direction? Its a real tinny clattering noise, not a thud.

Would really appreciate any help anyone can offer

Hi Daz,

Thanks for that. It doesn't appear to be a pinging noise though....its like something metal/tinny is banking or rattling against somthing when going over bumps.

thanks for the info. Where abouts are the bearings and are they expensive to replace?

Can it be done by a semi-novice?

if you jack the car up and shake the back wheels qiut hard if they move the bearings seezed. a got ma brother and his mate to replace them but he works at pug. a think you need a press to make the bearings. a got a bearing kit for £35 and got it fitted for £90

Grant, thanks for the info on that.

I've just got back from the garage (2 hours it took em!) and it appears that there is a loose bolt on the anti-link bar bit (sorry, not right good at explaining things). He said that this might be causing the clattering noise. Does anyone else agree?

3 of them look at it and did everything they could to find it.
