13th June 2011, 21:13
Well it's been about a year since I had a saxo so when one came up for sale close to me for a cheap price I thought why not.
Mk1 VTS
only modification is lowered by about 80-90mm and 106 mirrors
plans are to do a bit of maintenance on the engine
sort out the vibrating from engine area
tidy up some areas of the vt kit where they have come loose
buy and fit panel filter
buy and fit wind deflectors
buy and fit supersprint 2in system
try and source a good cheap gti leather interior
here's a few pics

Cheers matey, morettes are ok but want it to look pretty oem.
The colour of it is like a very dark grey, I think it's a pretty rare colour but still to confirm this. It's in pretty good condition for a P reg.

Mr Rey how are ya?
You seen my old saxo (x389 vap) about anywhere? Last time I saw it the kid had ruined it by getting certain panels resprayed but in a different shade of blue. He actually tried selling it back to me.
Thanks matey yeh it's surprisingly clean for it's age.
Just trying to work out a few deals for a couple of new additions for it.

8th July 2011, 18:07
Few nice updates!!
Pipercross panel filter delivered not had a chance to fit it yet.
Picked up a 106 leather interior to go with my plain black front and rear doorcards, fitted the front leathers but haven't fitted rears yet.
Also bought some jp4 covers but still waiting for these to be delivered.
Best part I have bought by far is the 2in supersprint mani back system I got from paxo89. Picked it up from atspeed and had a chat with Colin, really nice bloke.
Fitted the exhaust today and god I am in love, had one on my furio but it still had the cat in but on the vts without a cat it sounds immense, absolute porn.
Dan-Subtle
17th July 2011, 20:37
Panel filter and interior now all fitted.
JP4 covers have arrived and are sitting on my work desk so will get those fitted when I do cambelt and headgasket.
Think the tracking needs doing as bit of wheel wobble when driving, either tracking or buckled wheel so will be getting that checked out.
Will get some pics up once I've given it a good wash.

Got a lot planned in next couple of weeks, major engine overhaul (possibly new lower mileage engine), new clutch, 2 new driveshafts, new cambelt, new headgasket, new water pump, new oil filter, more service items and probably new discs and pads all round and possibly upgraded cams if i can get some for the right price. Also will be removing all vt trims and fitting new clips and also bonding them on with tigerseal as most have come loose.
Will be at trax hopefully have a better set of wheels on by then.

Momo 280mm wheel
2 x 155/55/14 Nankang NS2's
Pug a and b pillars in black (need c pillars in black if anyones got any)
Also in middle of spraying the wellers, hopefully get them done by the weekend.

Engine work will have to take place after trax as won't have time beforehand.
Will get pics up soon as pics are better than words.

7th September 2011, 12:58
Right well had a busy weekend.
Engine out, new engine rebuilt and fitted, new clutch, JP4 cam covers on, 2 new driveshafts fitted.
Also tried to fit the Wellers but spacers were not to my liking so getting proper ford to citroen spacers.
Momo wheel couldnt be fitted because boss i bought from Mathias wasnt a saxo boss.
Also picked up some Morette front lights with Willsys old custom indicators, going to spray them up same colour as wheels then get them fitted.
Will get some pics up tonight.
Also quite nice to see i had the only Mercury Grey saxo at Trax :)

Also in between all of that I will be moving to my first own house.

Kool, what car you got now mate?
Yeh I am mate, probably have met you a couple of times.
Why you buy another engine Dan?
Looking good, how much of the new engine did you build internally?
Well the other engine had covered 127000 miles and I wanted to change cambelt, headgasket, etc etc so thought I might just be better off buying a lower mileage engine and rebuilding with newer parts.
New Engine has covered 75k-80k, had new cambelt, new headgasket, all new gaskets, jp4 cam cover conversion, swapped over cam carriers from old engine as were in better condition, new spark plugs, new sump plug, new oil filter, etc etc.

Kool, haven't seen you about stickens.
Well fitted new wishbones today along with new track rod ends and back brake pads so will hopefully pass MOT on Monday.
Grounded out today coming out of carpark so hoping no damage was done.
Thinking about putting vts wheels on now instead of the wellers, going to see which I like better once car is mot'd.
Will get some updated pics up tomorrow sometime.

Little update:
Few things have changed
Fitted the wind deflectors and momo team 280.
Purchased and fitted a debadged mk1 grill
Got my armrest setup
Purchased black a, b and c pillars but not fitted them yet.
Also decided that I would quite like to do a couple of track days so have started to purchase a couple of bits to go with the wishbones, vibratechnic mounts and Blackshore bushes.
Powerflex lower gearbox mount
Sparco upper strut brace
New tb to port and polish
Also hoping to sort out deal to buy catch tank and mocal oil cooler with pipework
I will be buying a cheap bucket seat and subframe and will swap them over on my first few track days and if I enjoy it I will look in to things a bit more seriously.
It may not get a trackday for a while but seen as I only use it for work one day a week and live 5 mins from Lydden hill and 40 mins from brands hatch it makes sense to have a go at it.

Been really busy lately so havent had a chance to fit any of the new bits.
Gathered a few more bits:
Dished Steering Wheel
Raceland with Large Green Filter
Janspeed 421 Manifold
2 Sparco 3 point harnesses
Also any tips for mounting place for the Mocal oil cooler? Am thinking about mounting it behind the grill if its possible.

Also purchased some Speedline Chronos with tyres, picking them up in a couple of weeks.

Does anyone have the Spoox engine mount kit, what are your thoughts on it?
Yes I know it's filthy, need to get out and wash it today.

Decided to go with some 165lb springs with the b8s after putting up a thread in the suspension area.
wondering whether to put the old front grill on or get the current debadged one sprayed in grey.
Dan-Subtle
19th February 2012, 21:27
Small update.
Fitted the mocal oil cooler and samco vtr top hose today, very happy with the fitting of it and seen as the old oil cooler had been left off when the new engine was fitted the mocal has made a big difference.
Standard grill will be fitted sometime this week so the debadged one is for sale.
Also need some mk1 Vts struts if anyone has some so I can build the new suspension setup off of the car.

Got some bargain Morettes this weekend, they turned up and had a touch as their painted the same colour as the car. Got them fitted but I'm not 100% on them so gona give them a couple of weeks see what I think.
Also got hold of a pug rear dewiper kit so got that fitted.

Well haven't updated this for a while.
Was supposed to be at the BHP show and on track but day before thermostat housing broke and ended up coming home on the back of an AA tow truck. Turns out the the thermostat housing was so old it had become brittle and coupled with the tight fitting samco top rad hose it broke off the thermostat housing.
New thermostat housing now fitted and it's back on the road.
Few more goodies purchased and on their way:
106 mirrors with Carbon Caps
Streamline Carbon radio Panel
Faulkner 155lb springs
Flocked indicator and wiper stalks
Hoping to make FCS with all parts fitted but may be pushing it as I have exams and a holiday before the show.
Still undecided on the morettes, contemplating cutting up my old oem grill to use instead of the crappy meshed morette style one as I think that may sway my decision of keeping them.
