Hi all, new here. Have joined as my daughter has 2001 furio. Due to personal problems she may need to sell car (very reluctantly) but I have encountered a couple of problems. Firstly rev counter has stopped working, have disconnected battery but no joy. Second problem is brake warning light on. Have checked fluid (fine) have also checked handbrake switch, again fine. Car does not have brake pad wear indicators. Hope someone can help as I am scratching my head at this. Thanks, Phil.:wall:

Try the brake load sensing valve

Mine was ceased and failed the mot but I didn't have a warning light

It's in the rear passenger arch just spray some wd40 on it and try to free it up a little bit

Checked the wires behind the dash?

All the other dials working?

Yep, all other dials fine, will I need to take clocks out or is it accessible from underneath?

Not sure tbh never looked behind the dash

Think you can reach the wires but ideally you wana look at the join to the back of the dial coz that will be the weakest part
However it could easily be anywhere on the wire

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Im certain to get behind the dash the steering wheel has to come off.

Will give it a go. Anythings worth a try at moment as it's doing my box in, especially as daughter keeps nagging. Thing is I spend all week with cars and when I get any time off there's always something needs doing. Cheers anyway. Never know someone else may join in with some suggestions. Will update as necessary.:y:

Hi. I've joined this forum because I have a very similar problem.

I have a 1.5 diesel saxo. For no reason and randomly, the handbrake warning light comes on, at the same time the rev counter stops working. The rev counter suddenly starts working and the handbrake warning light goes out randomly too.

I have noticed that if the engine is running and I turn my sidelights on, then turn on the front foglamps, then turn the foglamps back off the rev counter starts working and the handbrake warning light goes off. This works 90% of the time.

I've yet to see if this fix is when I'm accelerating, decelerating or constant load etc. It doesn't fix it if I turn the headlights on.

At some point in 2012 handbrake warning light being on is an MOT failure. You just know that when its in for an MOT the bast*d light will come on! So if I can't sort this out the bulb is coming out lol

No you don`t have to mate, just undo the 3 13mm bolts under the steering column(the column drops down)then you can carefully ease out the instrument cluster(after undoing the torx screws around it):drink:
