Fcuk me, 2 grand for a 1.1 saxo!!

Cheers mate for the number with be ringing them tomorrow, and I no its alot of money but at the end of the day everyone needs insurance no matter how much it is, it don't really help me being a motor mechanic and have modified it but I need to start to get more no claims to get cheaper insurance so I think its just the case of biting the bullet and getting on with it really, any more recommendations welcome :)

No worries! i hope you can get it cheaper than that, i wouldnt bother driving if i was paying that much for a 1.1

Not a good quote at all i dont think. Im 18(19 on friday) with 1yncb on my VTR with mods declared its only 950 fully comp.

But being a mechanic doesnt help and where you live depends too. But i wouldnt pay £1900 for a 1.1 when i get quotes for a VTS at £1150.

with 1 years ncb i was paying £565 on a 1.1 106. now im only paying £750 on a VTS at 19 with 2 years ncb. you're getting mugged off

You have to bear in mind that there are a few other things besides age, NCB and car which affect the price

Occupation and Postcode can make a huge difference

And the fact premiums have gone up anyway...

Fully comp?

I'd shop around a few brokers. Dont tell them you've been given any prices yet and let them give you their best price. Then take their price direct to the insurance companies and get them to beat it.

My first car was a 1 year old Vtr and I've never paid over £900 a year fully comp for my insurance.

I'd also consider insuring tpft if it's significantly cheaper. It's a false economy paying more than the car is worth fully comp

Fuck me. £1900 for insurance :|

I'm 20, 1 years NCB and only paying £720 with Admiral. Fully Comp.

Elephant :)

Bear in mind that with Elephant you have to pay up front to get the lower price.

They are very clever with that they do, they entice young drivers with lower prices because they know they need to pay monthly and then when you call up, 30% is whacked onto the price for monthly payments

I've just got a price from admiral and its 1,689 quid and that's if my dad goes multi car with me, I just going to ask the bloke tonight when he rings back to ask for a price if I put a vtr engine in my car and look at the difference to see if its worth paying a little bit more for more power, cheers for the input though guys much appreciated!

Unless you are 21+, my bet would be that they wouldn't even quote on on an engine conversion....

chris knotts insurance is toss!

I just rang them up for a quote & they wouldn't insure my car as it has mods to it LOL!
whats the point on advertising on Sax-P then? 90% of the cars on here have mods.

Think im going to stick with elephant as they gave me the cheapest quote fully comp with mods at £1750, inc break down cover the lot

Are you a hairdresser though?

If not you could have some awkward questions if you ever need to claim as occupation is something they can almost always prove if they really wanted to get out of paying a claim...
